*2. Up to 13 hours of battery life based on typical Surface device usage. Testing conducted by Microsoft in September 2019 using preproduction software and preproduction configurations of Surface Pro X. Testing consisted of full battery discharge with a mixture of active use and modern standby. The active use portion consists of (1) a web browsing test accessing 8 popular websites over multiple open tabs, (2) a productivity test utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, and (3) a portion of time with the device in use with idle applications. All settings were default except screen brightness was set to 150nits with Auto-Brightness disabled. Wi-Fi was connected to a network. Battery life varies significantly with settings, usage and other factors.

*3. Some software and accessories sold separately.

*4. Surface Pro X for consumers comes with Windows 10 Home to bring you the powerful Windows features you use most at an exceptional value. If you need additional enterprise management and security tools for the workplace, you can switch to Windows 10 Pro or purchase Surface Pro X for Business. At this time, Surface Pro X will not install 64-bit applications that have not been ported to ARM64, some games and CAD software, and some third-party drivers or anti-virus software. New 64-bit apps are coming to ARM 64 all the time.

Surface Pro X 8GB 128GB is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Warning - Avoid at all Costs Ordered this laptop for use in an office and overall cannot recommend the purchase. Positives first: the high-resolution screen has excellent contrast and looks great on the desk. It's a very sleek-looking device too - not too heavy to carry around and fits easily in a bag or suitcase. Overall the presentation of the device is terrific and the touchscreen is responsive and honestly gorgeous. The battery life is also decent and it has built-in LTE for on-the-go access, but at a terrible cost I'll explain below... Now to the negatives. First, the keyboard is worse than the old generation surfaces, and that's saying something - the keys feel limp and the keyboard itself is wobbly - not to mention the fact that you're sort of strongarmed into buying the laughably expensive keyboard on top of the price included (who buys a computer without a keyboard?). Performance is also another issue as the specs are pretty awful in a dollar to performance ratio compared to most laptops, but if you're buying a surface you're probably more concerned with portability and in that sense it's not as much an issue. If you're using anything intensive like Premiere Pro or Photoshop, expect it to slow to a halt as it did for me. Apparently it's worse than the previous model Surface Pro 7, which wouldn't surprise me. In addition, to make the device as thin as possible the PC has TWO ports total - that's right, TWO. No USB, no Ethernet, no HDMI, no headphone jack - without an adapter the best you get is two USB-C ports, so unless you want to carry around one of those adapter hubs with you, you're out of luck. There's something to be said about a laptop that you can't even plug a non-bluetooth mouse into. My main concern with the Surface Pro X model is the baffling decision to ship a flagship product with its 64-bit ARM chipset - which means you can say goodbye to any apps without a readily available 32-bit installer or anything that requires more than a couple gigabytes of memory (for those of you not as tech-savvy, that means most modern app releases from the last decade, although most software companies typically releases a 32 bit version just in case). Not even Microsoft's own Office suite has x64-ARM support as of this review. The only apps with ARM compatibility I can fine are a handful on the much-maligned Windows Store. There's also basically no support for replacing it with a regular 64-bit system since I've been unable to find a way to replace the operating system at all as of yet - apprently even Microsoft's own tools don't support rolling out a new operating system to the device, which apparently seems to be becoming a bit of a trend for the Pro X. Being stuck with 32-bit programs means that performance for everything suffers drastically. or a device marketed towards casual users the fact that many programs JUST WON'T WORK on the device is baffling to me! Many of the vital apps I use for my business won't work on the device, which is honestly crazy for the price they're asking for since it basically makes it a machine for browsing the internet and not much else. All this for a few extra hours of processing power and a more eco-friendly battery, although even in the last few days the battery life hasn't held up for a full day of standard use without needing another charge. Overall the Surface Pro X is a major disappointment. Previous models in the series have varied from good to great, but with this release Microsoft is using the public as buy-to-try guinea pigs to try and get more developers on the ARM development bandwagon. MS seem to have taken the iPad approach to development and marketing with many of the same pitfalls - poor price-to-performance, closed OS ecosystem, lack of ports and a limited selection of apps but with none of the confidence. Buy the Surface Pro 7 if you're really sold on the Surface and give this a hard pass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Microsoft Surface Pro Convert I love the monitor and it's ease of use. The resolution is perfect. The only thing I don't like is that you have to buy separate connections if you want to use headphones or a USB.
