Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wont charge inconveniently 2 weeks out of warranty Short 12 month warranty and in the year we've had multiple issues with it charging. We've cleaned the contact points regularly throughout the year but now has suddenly become a massive issue and wont charge at all. Found out what the issue is after YouTubing troubleshooting for the problem. It's a common design fault. The back on the robot drops over time and so the charging contact at the front of the machine are raised and are not touching the base properly. So you have to stick something under the back of the robot to lift it up every time you want it to charge. Extreme inconvenience and only a year after having the vacuum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time saver for busy people. Used this unit a few times now and it as a fantastic vacuum. Took a few goes at mapping the area, we have a big house so it runs out of charge but happily recharges in a decent amount of time then picks up where it left off. Does quite a good job, doesn't get into corners that well and it's a good idea to hit your carpets with a normal vacuum from time to time, but otherwise no complaints. Very good with pet hair. It's reasonably compact so gets under things like the bed and coffee table. It is a vacuum, so it isn't whisper quiet and the emptying unit is loud, so don't send it off to do it's thing in the middle of the night. The app is easy to use too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish I’d purchased one earlier PROS - it works slowly so it does pick up better than my Bosch does. My fault I should slow down but honestly which of us does the vacuuming slowly— Roomba does. Carpets look fantastic. CON - I wish I’d spent the extra for the model with the bin extraction system. Having pets, and working, the bin fills quickly and I’m not here to empty it. Fix is smaller areas every day rather than doing the entire house every day. Also have a second area clean after you get home. I’m also lucky I have an air compressor on hand. The filters clog quickly with pets and air blow is the best way to clean them. Honestly - if you work (which means you don’t have time to stand and vacuum slowly for a few hours) get one! If you have pets - invest in the top model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Daddy's Helper We have had this iRobot Roomba i7 for three weeks and I must admit that I am really impressed. We have bamboo wooden Flors and carpets in the house and it has done a fine job od keeping our floors clean. We have especially noticed the differannce with regardsto our dogs hairs all over the floor. As the one who genrally does the vacumming I decided to buy this as a gift to my wife! It has done an extremely good job of keeping me off the vacume cleaner. Would highly recomend it especially the self emptying function and the mappimg of our home. Our house is cleaned 5 time a weeks due to dog hair and looks prestine all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient, cleans thoroughly & big time saver! The i7 has been a god sent! I have two border collies who shed quite a bit of hair and bring dirt in the house and it picks up everything. It has been such a time saver not having to vacuum myself every second day and now just setting a schedule for it to be done is so convenient. It’s great that you can insert dividers and allocate zones so I am able to pick and choose which areas need to be done more then others. I have mostly tiles throughout my house but have carpet in the bedrooms. It works the best on my tiles and does a decent enough job on carpet. My living, dining and kitchen require regular cleans and they’re tiled so it’s awesome for that! Well worth it for us!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Alright, but....... This is not my first robot and is certainly not the best. It took 10 attempts to get it to map my house before I gave up. It refused to acknowledge about a quarter of my house. Meanwhile it went on a suicide and destruction mission, ramming my furniture, door frames and skirtings to the point that they need to be repainted. iRobot needs to work on the sensors to stop it from ramming everything it comes head on with. The up side is the customisable map (it does not clean where it refused to map out), and the self emptying bin. It does clean my carpets well too, and brushes have been replaced with rollers which means no tangled hair. Very expensive for what is good about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome device. This guy is great. We have laminate timber floors and quite a few rugs. Does a great job on the rugs, even the shag ones (we did need carpet grip tape to secure them in place though or they’d just get pushed around the floor). Misses the odd bit here and there on the timber but we have scheduled it to do half the house each day (Vacuum area of house is a total of 50m2) I would recommend getting the “plus” version if you have carpets and/or dogs that shed. The bin can fill up pretty quick. It’s definitely got our house feeling and looking much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iRobot perfect time saver This is the best thing we've bought in a very long time saving an enormous amount of effort. It's very easy to setup and once it's learned your floor plan which it does all by itself it then takes care of the rest. Having a shedding dog and everyone working from home in the house it was getting very messy every other day, the iRobot i7 takes care of all that including getting under those pieces of furniture we wouldn't normally bother with. I also love being able to automate routines with other IoT devices i.e. light globes, message alerts.

Does this Roomba follow a random path, or does it map the room and follow an intelligent path optimised to reduce the time?

Hi Peter. Thanks for your question. These vacuums use a navigation algorithm called visual simultaneous location and mapping, or VSLAM. The optical system can identify landmarks on the ceiling, as well as judge the distance between walls. The iRobot Roomba i7 Plus shows a more logical, thorough navigation path thanks to its optical technology. Hope this helps with your query.

what is the suction power?

Hi Arun. Thanks for your question. The iRobot has a 10X Power-Lifting Suction. This equates to a suction power of ~1700 Pa, and is suitable for medium to large homes and apartments. Hope this helps with your query.

Can you control this via your phone while you are out of the home

However, the new smart App allows you to connect your robot with your home Wi-Fi network, so you can use your iOS or Android smart device for the following tasks: Access set-up instructions. Start, pause or cancel cleaning jobs from anywhere. Set cleaning schedules, customize cleaning preferences,monitor cleaning activity and other convenient functions. Hope this helps.
