Rated 4 out of 5 by from Espresso grinding The Smart Grinder Pro works well, producing a consistent grind that works nicely with my La Pavoni espresso machine. I like having the ability to grind directly into my portafilter. The only issues I've encountered are that a bean occasionally gets stuck falling part way between the grinder burrs and I have to move it with the cleaning brush. Also, whenever the grinder loses power, it reverts to factory settings when powered back up, so you need to pay attention to resetting your preferred grind size and time of grind afterwards. The 17.9 second default time overfills my portafilter and spills some, so I prefer 15 seconds of grind for a doppio.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Older model was better Bought this model about 9 months ago to replace an older version of this grinder that I'd used daily for the 8 years prior (one day it just stopped working...) I wanted to replace with a new version of the grinder that had treated me well for so long. I'm disappointed that this one has an issue where the coffee beans get hung up in the hopper and I have to hit the machine to get the beans to flow into the grinder while its grinding. Otherwise it just spins away without grinding any coffee. I have to stay close while it grinds as it does this almost every time I use it. My old model never did this. Otherwise I have been happy but this "babysitting" is quite annoying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG So Sad Love this grinder! Bought it in 2014 & love the grinds we get for our espresso, french press, pour over, & had used drip & Keurig. Sad part....it is starting to play up. The ‘digital' indicator is not responding to selecting grind type & when grinding it jumps around more, so not sure what grind we are actually getting. Cleaned it fairly regularly. Cleaning it did no remedy the issue. It is well past it's 1 yr warranty, but was hoping to find email contact info to see if problem is fixable. Maybe Breville will see this and contact me with the fix. I hate the idea of sending it to landfill :worried:

Rated 2 out of 5 by from *thought* it was great Delivered 8/4/2020 so in 4 months this expensive machine appears to be useless. No longer grinds the coffee. I've cleaned it per instructions many many many times. Finally I pushed something up the chute (no advice in the product booklet about this! ) and so much finely ground coffee came out. I thought it was blocked. It started working again. Once. Then stopped again. And I don't grind it finely but very coarse. How did all that finely ground coffee end up there when I don't grind on a fine setting? I'll see if they'll honor the warranty but I wish I did not have to deal with this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent grinder I have used this grinder model since around 2009. It is far and away the best I have had. The first one gave up the ghost after about 8 years (motor) but I immediately purchased a new one. I like the ability to preset all settings once, then each day just press the grind button and it runs. An interesting feature of the design is the catch cup has a metal cap which positively clicks into position when correctly placed. The effect of this feature is that the catch cup is now grounded, eliminating the static electricity other grinders experience which causes the ground coffee to stick to the sides of the cup. One comment: the bean container holds less than a pound, probably about 13 ounces max. This differs from the published spec of 18 ounces.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not last. This was a fantastic grinder for just over a year. I have ground my beans fresh for about a year and a half cleaned regularly and little by little the grind took longer. Less coffee would come out and or the percussion grind would fail. I am 6 month over the 1 year warranty I have gone on line many times and nothing seems to fix it. I can still grind my daily cup. It just takes 2-3 minutes to get enough for the pot. Very disappointed in the durability and of the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grinds coarse to fine(!) plus useful extras Bought this grinder after trying out my sister-in-law’s. We had another popular brand of burr grinder but after using hers, I realized that her fine ground was so much finer than the finest I could get. This grinder will literally make coffee bean powder! It has perfected my espresso with a nice foamy top after extraction. If you want a grinder that truly has coarse to fine grind, this is the one. Other amazing features: timer so you get the exact same amount of ground beans each time, and an adapter which grinds the coffee straight into the Breville portafilter. Love the extra features that put this thoughtful grinder on top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid grinder. Got my first grinder in 2012 and after 2 years it failed and Breville replaced it without question. The replacement has been rock solid for espresso and filtered coffee. When I upgraded my coffee machine to one with an E61 group head, the E61 portafilter would not fit into the basket so bought a Baratza. Now I have 2 grinders side by side, the Baratza for espresso and the Breville for filter grinds and it is outstanding for the Chemex. Interesting footnote that I just learned today that Breville has purchase Baratza, so am still very much in the Breville family of customers! My experience is that this is quality product backed by good customer service. Cant ask for more.
