Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very inconsistent. I bought this product 3 months ago and am sorry I did. On numerous occasions the camera will not pick up the arrival of a person but will when they leave. The camera did not acknowledge my arrival two days ago and last night recorded me leaving the house but not when I returned after a few minutes. Obviously not sure when it has not picked up someone coming and going. We purchased the camera so we could keep an eye on our property. We are not there all the time but a couple of out children call in regularly for various reasons. I am sorry I purchased the camera in the first place and will not be wasting more money on an ongoing basis.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Satisfied - but only just we purchased the Arlo products as they had great reviews, but I have to say friends have a different brand and appear to have a far better outcome. The night vision option doesn't actually provide any better view than the normal vision option once the sun goes down. There is a lag (1-2 minutes) whereas other products seem to operate in realtime. The setup functions for motion detection doesn't seem to work effectively. We receive constant notifications for movement (vehicle street traffic) which is outside the range of the configured range, but sketchy results with people and vehicle movements within the target area.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Rubbish I have been a long term user of Arlo products.. In the last year or so I have added to my over 20 cameras at 2 locations. I have a mixture of Arlo Go's, Arlo Pro 2's and I also invested in some Arlo Essentials as I want to progressively replace the Go's and Pro's. Much to my horror after a firmware update that was pushed out to the Essentials by Arlo my 8 Essentials were bricked. Support has been nothing but obstructionist and clearly has been told to stick to a script of denying any responsibility. I see the guidelines for writing this review don't allow me to talk about support so this review will not be published. Anyway in a nutshell do not buy Arlo cameras they're a total waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Constant sinc issues, poor battery The batter is marketed to last upto approximately 6 months. My battery is constantly only getting upto 2 weeks life. I have re adjusted settings so that the camera is less sensitive, reduced video quality and smaller activity zones. I can still watch the battery percentage drain down. Every time I need to re charge my device, for some reason it stops sincing with my arlo app. In order to re connect i have to forget the device and go through the sinc process again from the beginning. Both camera and arlo app have the latest update. Now my camera has not recorded anything for 2 days. When it was working correctly it was good. Also, the alarm siren that has a warning before sounding as its 'very loud'. You can barely hear it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Have returned the product I really wanted to love these cameras but unfortunately I sent them back. The quality is excellent, but the sensitivity of movement is just too high and the camera was recording every blow of wind all day long, I’d end up with 50 recordings a day and a battery that would only last two weeks. I tried changing the motion sensitivity but a) it didn’t make a difference and b) it would reset the sensitivity itself every single day and not stay at the setting I put it on. The live recording is also delayed long enough to defeat the purpose of being live

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but no storage without an Arlo hub. This is a great value camera if you already have an Arlo hub. Without the hub you can only view events happening in real-time and not able to back up incidents unless you pay for an Arlo storage plan. I have an Arlo hub so it isn't an issue for me. Battery life so far is great and looks like it will last the advertised 6 months between charging and maybe even more. I added this camera for our front door as it has a built-in spotlight which works well. The Arlo app is fine but I choose to use the Apple Home app which is great for what we need.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low battery I decided to buy the cameras after a great experience with the Doorbell. The doorbell battery has last approximately 2 months. I was expecting the cameras to have a similar duration. I've set the cameras to work only during the night no spotlight and with the settings of Battery Save Mode. But I've seen the battery been drained in just a few days. Very disappointed because the Doorbell was such a great experience. Will keep feedling with it to check if I can find a sweet spot on the camera settings that last more than just a few weeks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing I brought this product a few weeks ago and am underwhelmed by its results so far. The wifi connection keeps dropping out; even though I have placed the cameras in good wifi signal areas (indicated by medium to high signal strength when they are connected), which appears to also drain the battery a lot faster than advertised. All cameras have had to be recharged at least once since we got them; (albeit they were at the 2/3rd full level when first connected). For the price point and other online reviews I expected better.

Thanks for your question.The Essential wire-free camera comes with a micro USB type-A charging cable that you can use to charge your camera indoors. You can also use a VMA3600 Solar Panel to charge your camera outdoors. Hope this help with your query.

Hi. Does the Arlo essential record locally in a personal storage device or do i always need a subscription? Does it work if i buy a hub?

Hi there. Thanks for your question. To store locally, apart of the subscription, it will be needed to get the camera connected to a base station, from there you can use USB sticks or SD cards for storing footage.

Is there a extra cost through the internet to run the camera

Hi Philly. Thanks for your question. Using this device should not increase your Internet bill but, in any case, it will depend on the type of product you have hire with your Internet provider. If you have broadband or any other fixed standard product it would not alter the consumption, however, if using data it will likely increase the consumption.

How long does the battery last from one charge? And for long it keeps the recorded footage?

Hi there. Thanks for your question. This item has 6 month battery charge. This will vary with device settings, use, activity captured and environmental factors. Arlo Smart includes cloud recordings of video clips at 2K or lower resolution for 30 days.

Does this camera send to a tablet? What Distance will it send pictures to?

Hi Barry, thanks for a great questions! You can receive notifications and access video footage anywhere, so long as your selected device has the Arlo App installed and an active wifi or data connection. You can place the Arlo camera a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station. Hope this helps.
