Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak and pathetic motor I bought this to replace a similar looking decades old Philips shaver. The old one's battery was getting tired, lacked power and needed frequent charging and the cutters were getting blunt. On opening the new one's box, you could see straight away, the charging lead and plug was of the lowest possible quality-unlike the old robust curly lead and plug. After charging, was amazed to find it ran even slower than the old shaver ! The motor is weak and pathetic ! Yes it does shave and that's only due new cutters. Why are Philips just penny pinching to what WAS a superb shaver ? You don't even get a travel pouch with it. It certainly won't last like the old one- Disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Dry shaver ever So I bought the series 1000 dry shaver with the hope that the brand still uplheld its quality standards. To be honest it's probably the worst shaver ever. You charge it for the required duration but it still seems to lack the power to get a clean shave. You pretty much have to grind down your face in order to look decent and get the job done. Thereafter you are stuck with a facial outbreak, a raw skin. I'm extremely disappointed as it doesn't come cheap and I bought it while on a business trip so I'm stuck with it. Philips has disappointed me with this product and left me thinking I should have rather bought the Braun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great to shave on those hard areas As a regular user of disposable shavers, I was very interested to try this due to it being used as a wet and dry shaver. The charge is quick and long lasting – I normally go around 6-7 days before I find I need to charge it. The rotary is great, and the close-cut blade and pop-up trimmer really makes a difference to shave. I found this shaver to be great if short for time as you get an extremely close shave without any stubble. Cleaning is so easy as you get a cleaning brush to clean the inside and then can put it under water to give a thorough clean. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to use this and I will no longer be turning back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good rotary shaver. Fits well in your hand and has the beard/edge trimmer built-in. Nice sprung rotary heads, which are sharp and cut close enough f I am a long time Phillips electric user, and after forgetting a 4000 series/HR50 blade model in a hotel, I bought this as a replacement. I was a bit wary about the low end model, and particularly, the lower end blade (HR30) but I didn't expect to notice a difference as the HR50-types had been no trouble for many years.which are sharp and cut close enough for an best electric shaver. Easy to clean and comes with the small cleaning brush. How much worse could this be? The answer was, a lot. After experiencing serious irritation, red rough skin after shaving that lasted for days, and the tugging and yanking on the hairs,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Alright for the first 12 months My wife bought me this razor whilst in hospital 18 months ago. She was unsure if it would be alright as I have been a wet shaver all my life. At first the razor was ok and did not irritate my jaw which was my biggest fear and gave a reasonable shave. However, I have found that after 18 months the battery life does not last as long as it did and the motor is only performing to 50% of it’s original speed. Therefore I am not very impressed as the shaver should last longer than it has.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Philips Rotary Shavers still lead the way A replacement for several earlier shavers cannibalised for parts over the years. Perhaps not as powerful as earlier units but just a easy to use. If you take the foil guard off carelessly, the shaver head cover flips open and dumps whiskers all over..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid razor with a few drawbacks I switched to Philips from Remington as I'd heard good things about the brand, and this model in particular had good reviews. This is a solid razor for the price that gives a reasonably close shave. Annoyingly the fold out trimmer on the back doesn't snap in place and therefore tries to fold closed while you are using it. This a really poor design. The razor also inexplicably doesn't come with a case of any kind, which is not ideal for travel. Overall I think you can do better with a different model.
