Philips 9000 Series Wet & Dry Shaver is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 440.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality with great results Light in weight yet robust - a HIGH quality finish product. Very good as a dry shave however superb for wet shaves and best used with non foaming gel. Yes!, the quick auto cleaner works a treat though not essential as easy to remove heads in one piece and clean under the tap. Battery lasts for about 20+ shaves and recharges in less than an hour. Trimmer works well too. Case compact and knock resistant for protection. Causes NO skin irritation, especially if used wet. Used to shave with a blade but not anymore. All in all an excellent shaver, however, make sure you don't pay list price which is excessive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good performance but poor ergonomics Shaving performance excellent and razor is extremely quiet. Trimmer head is very efficient. However I don't care for the inconvenience of not having the trimmer as part of the razor and the shaving head is unnecessarily difficult to open. The pouch isn't great and has no space for the trimmer. Cleaning system is very large and clumsy. The power supply is of a configuration that is inconvenient for some overseas sockets In a nutshell, this model performs its essential functions very well -- does a better job than my HQ series. Not nearly so user-friendly, however, and the travel pouch really does need to be improved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Came back after lured away by foil shaver Have used Phillishave before but afraid I was lured away by a top of the range foil shaver. Sadly it did not do the job for me, the shaves were not close and despite shaving longer the results were disappointing. I returned to Phillishave and purchased the new 9000 series. The rotary heads get a really close and it's the nearest thing to a good wet shave. The niggles are few. I don't like the picture only instruction book and the seperate trimmer. I would have opted for the top of the range model but that seemed to come with a beard trimmer, and I don't have a beard. I was also amazed by the significant variation in prices with different retailers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased so far, it is very light, comfortable grip, fast shave and it is quiet! I love the wet and dry Phillips series 9000 shaver, it has a clear, easy read digital display, fast charge time, light weight with a comfortable grip and it is easy to clean. The 3 flexible heads are a great feature, not only do they reduce shaving time but they follows the contours of your chin and neck ensuring close contact with the skin, allowing you to get the close shave you are after. The flexible heads also mean you apply less pressure to trim the hairs which in turn reduces skin irritation, which is great because I have to shave every day. Over all I am very pleased with this wet and dry shaver and I would definitely recommend this product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My 5th Philips wet shaver since 2000 Last one died when it wouldn't take a charge. Others failed due not holding charge long enough. One failed after water got in. The Chinese-made ones never last as long as Netherlands-made ones. This new one certainly cuts well. But it should with brand new blades... Inspecting the 9000 prior to purchase, I saw it missed a stand to put the shaver on between usages. Surely the shaver needs a stand to drain water out between shaves ? So I was forced to buy the SmartClean version. I didn't like it - too bulky - so I built my own stand - see images. The 9000 is very noisy - an unpleasant high pitched squeal. There's no plastic cover for the heads. But it cuts well as that's the main thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointment at the 9211 shave Having used a blade for years, I did approach the electric experience with the knowledge I would not get a shave as close. I was proved right but to quite an extent. The speed is very slow and now it is taking me 3 times as long at a minimum to shave. The ability to use the shaving gel is a plus and the shaver glides, but I find myself having to shave again for the evening, when previously a single shave sufficed. The design and overall weight of the shave is comforting but I will be reverting to the blade for the week days when time is precious and leave the S9211 for the week ends. My first foray into the electric world left wanting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Close and comfortable shave The series 9000 shaver provides a surprisingly close shave, closer than any other electric shaver I have used in the past. I also have quite sensitive skin and have experienced no irritation when using the 9000 shaver. It is very user-friendly and comes with a nice travel case, as well as a precision trimmer; this is very useful for edging. However, it doesn't cut as close as the actual shaver head. As it says on the box, it works best with shorter hair 1-3 day growth. I found that if the hairs were too long, the shaver would struggle to lift and cut it. The shaver can be used as a wet or dry shaver which is very useful if you wish to shave in the shower. Personally, I prefer to use it dry. It also has a lock function, so it doesn't start up when you're traveling around. The battery lasts for a long time, also charges pretty quickly. It would be nice if the shaver came with some sort of stand to house it and the attachments. Overall it is a great electric shaver, the best I have used regarding closeness and comfort. I would not go back to traditional wet shaving with a razor as it irritates my skin, the series 9000 also cuts much closer than my other electric shaver does. I would recommend this product. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design and accessories; Sensotouch 3d was better. I always upgrade my Philips shavers when a new one comes out so bought this to replace my Sensotouch 3D. My main problem with it is not the shave you get, which is good - but that the design and accessories are worse than its predecessor. It's not as nice looking as the Sensotouch, but the main problem is that the clean charge system has moved from where you charge the shaver by simply inserting it, to where you have to fiddle with it and click something down on the end as it now charges from the bottom, not from the sides. If you add to this no integrated long hair trimmer, your shaving routine becomes: fiddle to get it out of cleaning station; shave, swap heads, trim; swap heads back; fiddle to put it back in again. Just way worse than the previous routine. Also, travelling with it is worse. No flexistand to stand it in; no brush; no head cover. All these came with the previous model. Just no thought to accessories. And the new cartridges will be more expensive than the old bottle system. Sadly I now am using a "hotfix"! I have just put the new, better heads on my old shaver so I keep the integrated trimmer, ease of clean and brush from the old system. *Sigh.* Hope you guys get this right in 2 years time when the next one comes out.
