Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sound fades in and out.... I bought this product extremely excited for a wireless sound bar and subwoofer, when it works correctly it sounds great. I have an LG television that it is connected to with an optical wire. The subwoofer loses connection during shows and it fades in and out. I already returned the product once and got another one of the same exact unit. Still having the same problem. I reached out for customer service support and they will not send me a replacement. They are making me send this unit in and wait 3-5 weeks without a replacement. Completely unacceptable. Supposed to be a reputable company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic if you set it up right Just set this up today, tv connected by bluetooth, sound is amazing. Initially thought it was just average but if you use the supplied remote control you can set up the subwoofer volume, base etc and its phenomenal. You can also set up for different experiences like cinema, etc. Please note there is no hdmi connection so its bluetooth or optical cable. I wonder if those who say sound is poor haven't fully set up. I would certainly recommend

Unfortunately in my current situation, I can only use bluetooth connectivity and I have a lot of wi-fi usage...so the sub goes in and out and I have to disconnect then reconnect the soundbar BT in order for it to work...every time I want to use it. Shouldn't have to do that if it stays paired. Other than flaky BT...not bad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound. Small drawback. I’ve had this sound bar for about three months now and was also experiencing the fading in and out of the subwoofer occasionally. After messing with a bit and giving up, I started to notice that it would only fade if the tv turns the sound bar on. For example, always leaving the sound bar connected and not using the tv speakers. This isn’t a big deal for me because I don’t always use the sound bar. ...if turning on the tv, then turning on the sound bar, THEN connecting it via Optical/Bluetooth through your tv settings is too much work for you, then this isn’t the sound bar for you.

I didn't want to take the chance on something cheap and inferior. I wanted a brand I knew I could trust so I decided to buy the LG SL4Y. I have other LG products which have all surpassed my expectations, so I was hoping to have the same experience with the soundbar. All I can say is I am so happy that this is the product I decided to choose. It has crystal clear sound, and when I am watching a movie, I can turn the lights down, switch on the soundbar and I feel like I am having the same experience as I would in a cinema. Even listening to music is a most enjoyable experience. Thank you LG for another reliable, outstanding product. Would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought it at Best Buy for $119.99 With that being said you should get the SPK8-S to add treble to the speakers! It also makes movies more cinematic. The one con to this system would be that at times the woofer can be too over powering. Just turn the woofer down to like -3.. Overall, great buy!

Volume control for sound bar and TV are not synced when using internal speakers and sound bar.  In other words, my sound bar may indicate a volume of 8 but my TV will indicate something else.

Which TV do you have? What is the brand or manufacturer and how do you have it connected to the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming? Is the SoundBar paired with the TV via Bluetooth or are you using the Optical Digital Audio Input on the Soundbar? Is the audio for your TV through the Optical Digital Audio Out fixed or variable? If it is fixed, it will be at the same volume level. If it is variable, it will not be at the same volume level as the Soundbar...^IFV

What the code for phone pairing Bluetooth

When you pair the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming with your phone, it should appears as “LG SL4Y(XX)” on your phone. XX means the last four digits of address. For example, if your unit has a MAC address such as 9C:02:98:4A:F7:08, you will see “LG SL4Y(08)” on your Bluetooth device. When this unit is successfully connected with your Bluetooth device, “PAIRED” > your device’s name > “BT” appears on the display window. Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some devices have a different way of pairing. For details about Bluetooth pairing, refer to your Bluetooth device manual...^IFV

What is the Frequency Range of the unit? How deep does the subwoofer go in hz?

Regrettably, neither the specifications nor the owner's manual for the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming list the frequency range for any of the speakers or Subwoofer. will two of these soundbars work (sync) together via bluetooth for whole home music? meaning one in living room & another on patio for example. same feed

The LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming only receives Bluetooth signals. It does not transmit them so you cannot pair it with another SL4Y Soundbar. You can add the LG SPK8-S 2.0 Channel Sound Bar Wireless Rear Speaker Kit to it but the receiver for the SPK8-S is a Bluetooth device and will have the same Bluetooth Range of 33 feet (10 m) whose range can be greatly reduced by materials in your walls, metallic furniture, your router or microwave oven, etc., & the rear speakers that connect to the receiver are wired so the length of the wires will also be a limitation to how far you can place the speakers from the receiver...^IFV

what sound setting should I have my LG tv after connecting SL4Y sound bar and SPK8s wireless speakers

The sound setting should be set for however you have the audio system connected to the TV. If by optical, you would need to set the sound out setting to Optical etc.

How do I get the audio to sync with my phillips TV?

You can use either the Optical Digital Audio In or use Bluetooth to stream audio from the LG SL4Y 2.1 Channel 300W Sound Bar w/ Bluetooth Streaming to another device. If you are using Bluetooth, you do not have to have an optical cable connected to the unit.
