Rated 1 out of 5 by from Many problems in the latest firmware! The most important problem in the new firmware from 03.03.2020 (0.97.91591.0x8fcffa9) is the sound. It is simply impossible to listen to it. He was perfect in the previous version of the firmware. You for some reason do not ask if I want to update to the new version of the SOFTWARE. I don't need your new features, languages... for me, the most important thing is a beautiful sound!!! Other problem: After a while, the album covers disappear . When the volume is lowered, 6% is always lit, although the sound is no longer there. Of course, the reset was made several times. Via the menu and via the button. What do your engineers do? Aren't there too many flaws in the new firmware? Disappointment!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great sound, but nearly useless microphone Great sound. But I basically need to scream to make the Google Assistant react to "Hey Google". And that is even when nothing is playing and I'm alone in the room. The touch controls and the volume control buttons are not very responsive, you are better of using your phone to control the speaker. Which kind of defeats the purpose of this speaker. So in total, I had higher hopes for the functionality of the product, but the sound is exactly what I expected. My hope now is that Harman will listen to these reviews and fix these issue via firmware upgrades, otherwise my u it is being sent back in a week or two.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lackluster sound for the size Pros: it's a smart speaker that works with Chromecast. Cons: considering the size, the sound is underwhelming. Despite being able to set bass levels on the device, there is virtually no bass which is surprising considering the air volume the speakers have to work with. That said, if you look at the teardown you'll see there is plenty of room for larger speakers that can handle lower frequencies. There's also no software equalizer which means you can't tune any of the frequencies to your preference on the fly. Final thoughts: I wish I would have looked for a smaller unit with better sound quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speaker I am a bass lover. Before buying, I read several reviews that the bass in the speaker is missing or weak, and this was the biggest concern. Now I am very glad that I decided to buy. Bass is present in full in all tracks. Listen to Killing Strangers Marilyn Manson and you will feel the bass with your body, not just your ears. I realized that the feedback about the lack of bass is due not to the fact that the bass is weak, but to the fact that along with the bass, the speaker plays full mid and high frequencies. And does it very well. So, the sound of the speaker can not be called a dark or slurred sound. Voices and instruments sound amazing. The bass is not loose and does not create a dark atmosphere where it is not in the track. Instead, the bass is powerful and hard. As a result, after playing a little, I set the bass adjustment to 0, and with this setting the bass is completely enough. Otherwise, everything is perfect. The connection took three minutes without reading the instructions, the tidal plays great, the assistant works as it should. The only nuance is that I have a subscription to hi-fi quality tracks, but when broadcasting via chromecast, the tidal shows high quality, that is, mp3 320, not lossless hi-fi quality. But apparently these are the limitations of the chromecast protocol, and not the device itself. But honestly, I have not yet explored the issue, there was no time. This is my personal impression, I hope it will be useful to those who decide.

However, I was told that there would be no audio lag from Bluetooth on my iPad when watching a film. There is so it went Beck the next day. It is a massive shame as the audio was the best I have ever heard. Better that my sound touch sound bar with base box. The Bose has Bluetooth with no lag. Very unhappy with that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great sound but not the best software support When I first purchased the Citation 500, the sound was the best I've heard, the sound is amazing till this day with the right highs, mids, bass at moderate to high volumes, its a listening experience you want to truly hear someday but Harman state it supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz routers but I'm having issues with this speaker struggling to connect a lot of the time, basically it'll work 2 out of the 7 days per week and I told Harman and they said to get a 5ghz router but my issue is why state it works for 2.4ghz connection when more often than not it doesn't, it only works when it wants to and sadly I'm moving to Sonos, may have had the best listening experience but only when I can listen which is like 2 days a week for an hour tops so it ain't worth it. It has too many software issues and they need fixing and I've had it nearly 2 years, spoke to Harman and all they say is try this try that and upgrade your router, too many issues and they can't do nothing when they state it supports 2.4ghz. But if you have a 5ghz router you are all set but if you have what I have then I wouldn't even bother with 2.4 ghz. All and all its the best listening experience ever but without good internals and software there isn't much to go off. Amazing listening experience, lacks what Harman states and bugs in the constant software updates they release. 3 stars is all I can give when it lacks so much.

Harmon Kardon has always been one of the best. My 20 year old HK receiver still kicks butt. New technology. ... I connect my Android through Google Home. And crank up the speakers. I don't go searching for lost remotes any more. Instead .. "Hey Google" Automation. Just say "Hey Google". No expensive receivers needed. 200 watts of clean sound. No more wires. Clean Room

Why isn’t this speaker receiving any updates? The Cast version is 1.40 as opposed to 1.50 on a cheap Google Home Mini, and there’s no “Hey Google” sensitivity option either. I would expect better support for such an expensive device from H/K.

It would not connect to the internet all it does is show the name on top of the display and the four lights just keep blinking in front of it

My bluetooth keep skipping and cracking. I exchanged it for another one the same model but the second one still jumps/ skips but not as much as the first. How do I stop this? Apart from the bluetooth issues I love the speaker

The HK Citation 500 has to be set up first to Wifi so that the Bluetooth function would be enabled. After the initial setup, you can use it with only Bluetooth.
