Loving my first camera

The Canon EOS R100 has got to be one of my best purchases. It’s got stunning image quality, lightning fast auto focus, and such a small design for such an incredible camera, it definitely makes it a joy to use. Whether you're a pro or a rookie in photography, this camera delivers outstanding results every time. As an aviation photographer, I find this camera an absolute pleasure to work with. Light and compact, great for travel.
My third Canon EOS and first mirrorless, purchased for a family holiday. I have been using this for about six weeks. The photo quality is better than it often looks like it might be through the electronic viewfinder, which takes a little getting used to - as does the slight delay when turning on. I guess this is common in all mirrorless. The other thing about this compact mirrorless is that the picture is zoomed in - e.g. a 50mm lens is no longer a go-to for taking portraits across a dinner table. I purchased in a bit of a rush and I wish I had taken more time to examine the lens options. However the 18-45mm lens that came with the camera was a good all-rounder for our holiday. At first I purchased an adapter for my beloved EF 50mm f1.4 lens, but I found the weight and bulk of the adapter plus lens negated the benefits of the compact body. So I exchanged the adapter for the purpose-built RF 50mm f1.8 lens. This still does lovely portraits if you step back a bit, and is good in low light and for adjustable depth of field, but I will be investigating other lenses.
My main bugbear with this camera which I hope will be improved in future models is that the controls, all on the right hand side, are easy to accidentally press when grasping the camera, and the mode dial on the top right easily gets flicked around during handling or pulling in and out of a bag. Thus I would often find it set to Manual rather than my preferred AV, and I'd often accidentally knock the flash button, delaying my ability to take a spontaneous picture 'in the moment'.
Ability to wirelessly connect to my phone, download and edit photos is great, particularly for sharing photos while on holiday.
A lovely little camera for my purposes, and I hope others will find my comments useful.
