Good but not perfect like it used to be
I'm not sure why Brother is going backwards in their product offering. Let me run down the positives, then the negatives.
1) Their support is better now than in the past.
2) They used to make a really nice machine that I owned for almost 10 years. It could print 11x17 scan double sided, print double sided and had all the functions they sell today but cheaper. This machine was the only one I could find that was close but won't print 11x17 but does double sided scanning.
3) The "tank" is not really a tank. It's just a bigger cartridge which is odd, maybe marking ploy to meet Epson which looks like a real tank!
4) The software is and has always been weak. I have multiple instances of Brothers utilities and I'm never sure what or which one to use. I always get a new one when I get a new machine, but often time use the older on to accomplish my goal.
All in all they make the best printers hands down. I have 4 and the basic laser is a work horse!!!!

The printer was hard to setup. Some links on the website didnt work. A screenshot, step by step approach would work better. The print quality is good, but not brilliant and crisp as i expected. I had trouble findind a contact number to get help.The manuals section was hard to navigate. When i entered the model number in model search for FAQ's, it said there was no section in FAQ's for this model. Weird!
I persevered and got it done, but it shouldn't have been that hard!!
That said, i'm actually happy with it, it does what i want, and works fine.

Not happy with the product at all.
We have 2 other brother printers and we bought this model as our other models were out of stock. We are not happy with this model as it is flimsy, the paper tray that is coming out easily falls if touched by accident. The printer doesn't switch automatically from 1st tray to 2nd if there is no paper. We are very unhappy and easily return if we could.

Fast, top quality colour printer
Great quality fast printer, with excellent colour reproduction of images. Only issue is that it does drop out sometimes and has to be rebooted but I saw this on other reviews and it isn't a big deal really. I am sure it will sort itself out.

Brother for Home Office
Love the Brother. We have replaced a large office printer in our home office that was getting expensive to service and maintain. For the price and ease in operating we think the Brother was a good business decision.

Continuous Cleaning of Printer Head
For a brand new machine, I am disappointed that the black and white copies that we produce are coming out with lines across them every couple of days and that the cleaning function needs to be done to recify it.

Good at printing only
This printer has lots of good features but fails in terms of a basic modern function in being able to scan to email directly from the printer. We ended up returning it and getting a refund.

Bought this printer as mine old one was 10 years old and working so slowly. This new printer out of the box was easy to set up and worked like a dream. Very happy with it so far!
