[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] was only planned to buy a replacement for a broken microwave but when doing some research and this Panasonic 27L Flatbed Steam Combination Microwave does attract us as it equips with cooking functions including microwave, grill, oven and steam and the it also provides the combinations of any of those 3 to make the cooking even more dynamic. Was a bit wondering if it could do every separate function but it does good job and the cominbation delivery the even beter results and I am going to explore more combinations and it certainly save lots of time and let the cooking become even more creative and fun.

Perfect for any kitchen
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't get a freebie to write this review - which, to be honest, made me sceptical of the reviews on this website from so many 'who did' when I was doing my homework. Finally, I did purchase the DS59NB a month ago, carefully unpacked (encase I wanted to return - as I had on another brand recently) and I am delighted to say I am 100% pleased with this oven. Easy to use, easy to clean, exceptionally great grill that is very even across four slices of toast. A good cookbook which I will fine tune as I get more into the mix of cooking options this great little unit will provide.

So many amazing features!
I was gifted the NN-DS59NB 4-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven in exchange for an honest review on Panasonic’s website.
The Panasonic NN-DS59NB 4-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven has so many amazing features that it is impossible to give a totally comprehensive review after only using it for two weeks. I am enjoying using it and have tested the microwave, steam, bake and grill features however I know it has the ability to cook cakes, bread and pastries, and these are recipes I will definitely be attempting in the future.
I use it mostly for standard microwaving as I have an 18-month-old son and husband who works shift work, so I find myself needing to reheat meals almost constantly. The microwave function works brilliantly, I love that I can set the wattage with a spin of the dial along with the timer, this helps to get meals reheated quickly without becoming boiling hot. The microwave function is simple to use, and it heats food evenly. I find it to be much more efficient than other microwaves we have owned in the past so I suggest reducing the microwave times initially while you transition to the Panasonic Combination Microwave Oven.
I have used the bake and grill functions for some simple tasks such as cooking garlic bread or melting cheese on toast. Due to its size the Combination Microwave Oven heats up quickly and this is an incredible time saver when I only need to cook one or two smaller things (such as garlic bread). It cooks evenly and the heat is well distributed, however I recommend checking on what you are cooking halfway through the recommended cooking time. I have found almost all my cooking has been completed faster than the guidebook suggests.
I have also used some of the pre-set options for cooking frozen fish fillets and frozen chips, as well as steaming vegetables. The pre-set options make everything incredibly simple- just find the right pre-set option in the guidebook, set the weight of what you are cooking and the Combination Microwave Oven does everything else. The food cooked evenly and developed a lovely golden-brown colour whilst cooking right through to the middle. I found these settings to be as efficient as my Air Fryer and as there is a larger surface area, the Panasonic Combination Microwave Oven worked better to get all the chips crisped evenly.
Aesthetically speaking, the Panasonic NN-DS59NB 4-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven is sleek and well designed, I love the black colour and it looks perfect in my new kitchen.

Great compact machine
I was gifted the NN-DS59NB 4-in-1 Combination Microwave Oven in exchange for an honest review on Panasonic’s website.
I received delivery of this microwave two weeks ago, so still have some features I haven't yet tried. So far I'm really enjoying using it and getting to know what it is capable of, and how to make the best use of it in my kitchen.
I must say the first cake I baked in it, I actually burnt. That was rather embarrassing, and a little confusing, as I can't remember ever doing that before. That little experience prompted me to check the oven temperature range with a standard oven thermometer, I soon found the actual internal temp sits at about 20°C hotter than the temp set on the digital screen. This temp difference is fairly constant throughout the range from about 150°C and higher. Once I realised this I could then easily adjust my settings and avoided any other burnt offerings lol. The next cake I made was my orange syrup cake which came out amazing, it was so good I'll be baking it in the Panasonic from now on, and not bother with my full size oven for this particular recipe again.
I'm still trying to work out how to bake cookies, as the grill tray is ribbed, you can't get a flat biscuit. I'm thinking maybe a second flat baking tray could be included, or possibly a double sided grill tray, with the ribs on one side for grilling and a flat surface in the other for baking would be a great idea.
I love the grill function, I can make four full sized toasted sandwiches at once, and found they brown nice and evenly, while heating all the way through very well.
I made a potato gratin on the auto setting, and was thrilled with the result. It cooked in approximately 30 minutes, compared to about an hour by my usual method, and cooked through perfectly, with a nice golden brown colour to the top. I heated up the remainder the next night using the grill/microwave combination setting and you would've thought it had just been freshly cooked, it was lovely. Again another recipe that will now be a regular for this little machine rather than my full sized oven.
So far I'm very pleased with this oven, and am looking forward to getting to know it better. Hopefully it will be a mainstay in my kitchen for many years to come.

Superior Steaming
The NN-DS59 4-in-1 is feature packed and makes meal preparation simple. Our family tends to follow the Mediterranean diet so I’m really enjoying the steam function. This microwave delivers a powerful 1100 watts of steam and makes a welcome change to using a metal steamer basket in a covered pot on my stovetop. We are big seafood eaters and absolutely love steamed fish. I have tried using the steam function to cook perch and salmon. I am very happy with the results with regard to flavour, juiciness, and tenderness. I have also steamed broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, and green beans. This method has proved to be quick and simple. Importantly, the colour and flavour is retained in the vegetables. It’s great knowing the vitamins and minerals in the food is maintained. I tried the special cleaning program using steam and it worked very well. So far, I’ve mainly used the steam function due to my husband’s dietary requirements. However, the microwave function is really easy to use and super handy with a couple of shift workers in the family. The microwave power heats evenly and quickly. We are a family of six and I’m enjoying the extra space compared to our last microwave. My last microwave only accepted cookware that could fit on the turntable, whereas this model gives you a lot more options. The Panasonic NN-DS59NB has a compact, modern design and is a welcome addition to our newly renovated kitchen. Excellent quality, features and looks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having researched multiple combination microwaves, air fryers and steamers we settled on the NN-DS59NBQPQ for several reasons including features, price, quality and looks. Having owned the oven for a month, thus far it has exceeded expectations and we still haven’t used all its features. In particular the speed and quality of the food it cooks is fantastic, including using some of the auto programs, In addition, having the ability to steam, bake and grill as well as (better than) air fryer menus is a game changer not only cutting cooking time down after a busy day at work but also removing additional ‘clutter’ from the kitchen worktop. Highly recommended.

Versatile Kitchen Work Horse
The NN-DS59NB 4-in-1 Combination Microwave replaced our dying 15 yr. old microwave. No longer relegated to simply reheating leftovers, this machine is feature packed and makes for a great little kitchen helper.
What I liked about this microwave:
- It includes a very detailed instruction guide and cookbook full of recipes that I actually want to try out.
- The ease of use because the display panel tells you what buttons to press next.
- It can replace several bulkier appliances in my kitchen, with all its options. Thus, saving me on kitchen space, cooking time and electricity.
- As a straightforward microwave, it has a sensor reheat function, variable power up to 1000W. I actually managed to melt chocolate perfectly in it without burning it, as well as melt butter without having it explode.
- I was pleasantly surprised how well the combination options worked. I used it to raise, then bake fruit bread. Frozen pies came out with perfectly cooked fillings and a crisp golden outer pastry. It took less time than my regular oven to turn out crispy chicken wings. And it has now become so much easier to steam veggies and fish.
- The tray is non-stick and extremely easy to clean, same goes for the cavity of the microwave.
- Timer function
What I did not like:
- The many function buttons and instructions can be daunting for those less technologically minded.
- There were translation errors in some of the recipes that made it a bit hard to follow.
- This microwave cannot sit inside a cavity, as it needs ventilation. So, it has to sit on a benchtop.
- The cooling down fan is a bit noisy
In conclusion, after having used this combi oven daily for 2 weeks, it has quickly become a favourite appliance in my kitchen. I haven’t had to use my wall oven, or air fryer once. I think this type of microwave is a great space saver for small kitchens, caravans, minimalists. Oh, and if you hate cleaning, Panasonic has that covered too, cos this microwave has in built cleaning and deodorizing functions!
