Huge step up from the old crhomecasts
I had the first generation of chromecast that was very limited with only the ability to cast whatever was on another device to it. This is a huge step up. It has its own apps, it intergrates with your smart home so effortlessly where you can say "hey google, play ....... in the living room" Its screensavers use your photos from an album you can have auto create. Only feedback there is there is a photo limit which is disappointing. It would be good if it could shuffle through photos of all ages of family members rather than just getting the first x quantity ever captured. Having the weather displayed on that screensaver is also very helpful.

works quite well and adds a great feature
I purchased this Chromecast mainly for the ability to connect Bluetooth headphones. I can now watch television at night with no external sound to disturb other people in the house. The sound is good but a little unstable with some drop outs. Perhaps the headphones are at fault but the Chromecast has no ability to adjust the BT parameters.Picture quality is excellent. Aggregation of screening services is pretty good except the "continue watching" list does not work.Marked down due to the fact that Google home insists on using voice commands. I have no desire or need to use any voice assistant. Google Home should be fully functional without voice.

Nothing but problems
We upgraded from Chromecast to Chromecast with Google tv and are having constant problems.Using Google voice commands rarely work to play anything on the tv and when it does it’s often sound only with a black screen.We are getting a new response from our Google devices saying they cannot control android tv - which was never an issue before. Screen mirroring YouTube randomly turns off. When trying to troubleshoot the only advice is to turn the Chromecast off and on again, this doesn’t fix anything. When using the remote it’s great to have everything in one place on the Home Screen but definitely not worth it for all of the above issues.

Almost genius
The Chromecast with Google TV is amazing in all the ways you’d expect from a Chromecast. It also saved me from needing to upgrade a Sony TV that is perfectly good, except the latest Android TV update from Sony was too much for the power of the electronics. However, the Google TV UI sucks if you have a large Google Play Movies library. It does well to integrate options from many streaming services in a very smooth way, but it shows purchasable content from providers that already exists (purchased) in my Google Play Movies library. Additionally, browsing my existing library sucks in a single long row of 16:9 tiles in alphabetical order. @Google: plz fix

Very satisfied
Very satisfied so far. I upgraded from a first-gen Chromecast to the current model Chromecast with Google TV, due to some streaming services not working reliably on the old one. Thoughts on the Chromecast with Google TV :Every service I had issues with now works perfectly.The support for Android apps has completely freed me up from needing to use a phone or tablet to control the Chromecast, it can do everything I need itself now.The combined Google TV view is quite slick, I'm more using the individual apps, but the cross-app search is nice!The wee remote control is handy for managing the Chromecast and also the TV volume from one device.The price was right!!

Master of all?
The Chromecast is a brilliant gadget that is household friendly. It easily connected to all of my streaming services, and then presented me with a home screen that shows what I am watching across all of them.Easy to use for the whole family (a very big requirement) once set-up, it passes the WAF!Using only a USB connection for power it uses a lot less power than my previous set top box, but the best thing is the remote. It quickly links to your TV, and amplifier, so that you can use the volume rockers on the side, and turn everything on and off with a single remote.I couldn't be happier with this product, it is a real winner (stands for a show clap applause).

Exceeded my expectations!
I had been using a Roku box and wasn't happy with the limited functionality. I was recommended the Chromecast and for the small pricepoint figured I would give it a try. The packaging was good, the setup process was smooth (mainly due to using Chrome browser and my saved settings that were carried across). I love the remote, TV remote functionality included. The Chromecast dashboard is slick - Recommended TV and movies across all my exhaustive list of the seemingly million streaming subscription services is a great feature, discovered some hidden gems. The RottenTomato score is a beautiful feature, saves me looking up the score on my phone as I scan. Well done.

Chromecast - another level
Chromecast no longer relies on your device every time you load a movie. the display of apps covers most streaming services and delivers providing you have an account with the providor. More apps can be added including Kayo for watching sports. The screen display activated by the Chromecast remote looks like any smart TV display with all services showing however Chromecast will display movie catagories 'drama' 'comedy' etc which include all services that you have accounts with. there does not seem to be any signs of buffering and occasional lack of quality that earlier Chromcast models delivered.Music services are also available with screen displays during songs.
