Very impressed excellent cleaning ability!I previously owned a Bosch wand decided to give the LG a go. I opted for the XL as l like to wash doonas and blankets and this 16kg wash & 9kg dry capacity is brilliant! I love that l can load the machine and turn it on from my mobile. I also love the interior light so when you take the clothes out or put them in, you can do it in the dark LOL just a great perk! But great for finding things that may have fallen out of a pocket you missed. I remember l panicked the first time I did a wash because l thought l hadn’t separated the colours enough but everything came out perfect! Best of all, it dries the clothes completely! I love it and it now makes laundry days fun. Thanks LG life now is great!

Not too bad but high maintenanceI've had this for about 6 months now and while it cleans well and is reasonably quiet running the water valve opens super hard and causes water hammering/banging in the older pipes. The filter is also tiny and needs to be cleaned almost every wash or it will block up and stop working at all. This is a pain given you have to drain the system to clean the filter even if working properly and if blocked is even more of a pain. I would not recommend it for older houses or people with pets.

Great washer with huge capacity[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic machine. I love the all in one feature, means no unloading and reloading. Clothes come out clean and fresh and untangled.
Large enough to wash a queen doona, sleeping bags and big blankets.
My only wish is for more programmable cycles, as I prefer cold wash/heavy duty combos

What a waste of moneyWe bought this not too long ago have had problem after problem- Lg has come out already to do a repair. It has to be drained and cleaned out every second wash, and now it just has error after error no matter what we do. The drainage pipe isn't even long enough to reach any wear to drain and gets clogged itself! I wish I had kept my old washing machine that was a fraction of the price and none of the head ache. Can't even complete a wash cycle in it now and the water won't drain out even though we have cleaned the filters for the 100th time. I really hate this machine and will never buy another LG product again.

Overall good unit but wouldn't buy LG againUnit is good but only first year and had a couple of problems with it, primarily the LED dials on circular roller and the LED's on the right panel no longer working as when it was new, have to guess or count through the audible beeps what wash cycle you want.
This would normally be a straight warranty claim but so far LG support has been pretty poor, hard to understand english on the phone and have been battling with them for a week just trying to get a confirmation there is a problem that needs to be fixed. We have to ring back every day and over and over (after calls) since they don't follow up themselves.

HYGIENE AND ALLERGY ONLY WORK FOR 3KG !!!!! WHAT?BACKGROUND: MOTHER OF 6; 3/6 DISABLED - NEED CONSTANT WASHING AND CHANGING NEEDS.
I bought this a couple of months ago, and honestly what happened LG? Why were you collecting info on customers for years with your fancy App if I now have less choice? What was the point?
I was sold on the quality and quantity of washing. Now I am left with stained clothes which stay stained because the pre-wash is not long enough and it doesn't take it in enough water. Additionally, the hot and cold connections are superfluous - it only takes in cold water. Why? It doesn't heat the clothes while washing unless it is on 60 C but then the glass door is not as warm as my last 9kg LG, so I know something's off. Why?
To compare - I had a large 14kg Top loader after my 9kg LG washer/dryer ( which the new versions on the top loader do not have a SOAK button - again WHY?) which was fantastic, except of course the drum went after 5 years and the computer/ mother board and lock followed quickly. You could code the buttons on the top loader and it did the work. I had to get a front loader because I developed back issues and my doctor and physio recommended a front loader. Well now I have less pain but more stained underwear, towels and socks!
On this new machine:
I can't wash large loads on Hygiene or Allergy- what was the point of getting it; FALSE ADVERTISING! 3kg does not equal 16 kg wash capacity! Capacity and washing quality was THE SELLING POINT. You shouldn't be charging people over $2 K for a machine that is NOT SMART!
For Heavy Duty it is only 8.5 kg ! Again WHY????
THE STUPID WIFI WON'T TURN OFF! My cat won't sleep in the laundry anymore! WEIRD AND CAUSING ME ANXIETY THAT SOME ONE WILL GET INTO MY MACHINE WITH A COMPUTER VIRUS! (Please do not take this as a joke; LG have indemnified itself against all losses in the owner's manual (pp 31-33 in AUS version), so why have the WIFI on without giving an OFF button?)
I can wash quilts and blankets, but on COTTON - NOT on DUVET. Did you know, LG people that mites can only be killed at 60 C or more? So if your cotton quilt can't be steamed in the final cycle or washed at 60 C for at least 1 hour, you risk cross contamination?
Who is designing your family/large washing machines. Clearly no one who has ever had a family big or small or understands the actual meaning of 'hygiene' and 'allergy care'.
Heads up most proteins that cause allergies require at least 50 C for denaturing; your machine only does 40C. Again why and how is it possible you got it so wrong?
This machine was meant to save me on time and detergent and energy. I am having to just mix my soaker and detergent together in soak on COTTON, if I want a PRE WASH experience. I essentially have only one setting on a very well advertised toy.
I am stuck with a machine that has the potential and the physical parts but BAD CODING!

Love the size[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed a big washing machine for all the towels we go through operating a swim school. I love that it is big enough to fit all the towels which has stopped me needing to wash every single day.
I would say that the drying function is not worth it, it can take up to 10 hours for the towels to be washed and dried in the machine. I use a separate dryer which is much quicker.

Hi there, because this unit heats it's own water, it does not require a hot water connection. Having said that, it does have two water connections, so you can connect it to both the hot and cold water taps if you wish. We trust this helps

Hi there. Yes you can use just the dryer function if you wish. This model has 3 dryer programs. Turbo Dry, Air Dry, and Time Dry. It also has 13 wash programs. Cotton, Heavy Duty, BabyCare, Hygiene, Allergy Care, Sportswear, Light Soil, Speed Wash, Quiet Wash, Colour Care, Duvet, Wool, and Rinse+Spin. We trust this helps.

Is there a half cycle option for smaller loads, which will also use less water?

Thanks for your question Wendy. This operates via a condenser cycle and uses a heat exchanger to remove heat and water from air that has passed through your clothes. The water is collected in a reservoir or funneled down the drain. They don't need to be vented or ducted outdoors, but they do still expel moisture, so you will need adequate in room ventilation or open a window. Hope this helps!
