Hi there, if the frame is in positioned as landscape, it will display all the images as landscape. And the same if it is in the portrait position. It will not automatically show one image as landscape the the next one in portrait. We trust this helps with your query

I'm looking for a solution that a non-tech elderly person could use. Once we load images on, if they want to pause the stream or go back a picture, are their options to do that?
As it has a touch screen, I guess there's no remote control?

Great question Lesley! Yes, you can set the unit to sleep and wake up at specific times of day in the display menu. You can change active days, so it can be on for Monday, off for Tuesday etc also.
