Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL Bass is surprisingly loud. This JBL Bluetooth speaker is awesome. I was able to customize it with one of my artworks and it looks great. It sound amazing. I'm a big reggae fan and reggae needs a high volume of bass to Appreciate the sound of the reggae riddim and this speaker doesn't disappoint. It pushes the bass ridding in a dig way for such a small speaker. JBL realized the thumping bass is key to having a great product. Thank you I'm very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable for Outdoor use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a new speaker for work but needed something durable.I was hesitant to get this because looked too sexy to take to industrial environment.I took a chance and glad i did.Not only is this a beauty its a beast.The build quality is top notch the rubber sides and grill make me feel confident it will hold its own out here.Battery life is great i currently work 12 hours due to being short handed during pandemic and it has about 25% battery at end of shift while playing at about 75% volume.The type C charging port charges it up real quick about 1 hour or so.I haven't got it wet but i have got it dirty.Overall im happy and recommed if looking for something rugged yet pretty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent battery performance , rich sound I have been the proud owner of the JBL Charge 5 for 1 week. The coupling with the box was completed within seconds and I was able to enjox the great sound of the box. The tone is already full and can convince in highs and lows. The battery life is terrific , it feels like you don`t get the battery empty and recharging is also quick. The JBL Charge 5 also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of processing. JBL is also following the current trend towards sustanability and only supplies the charging cable without a plug, exemplary! I have to say that with the Charge 5 ,JBL has really succeeded in creating a very successfil bluetooth soundbox that really leaves nothing to be desired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Upgrade to a favourite! Received my new JBL charge 5 in blue (great colour). I’m really impressed with the update it’s almost the same size as my old JBL Charge 4 but the design is just fantastic a bit like a mini JBL Xtreme 3 which I also own in black. Now to the sound. First there is not a Huge difference between the new charge 4 and 5 but because of the edition of a tweeter there is more clarity and it seems to hold on to more bass at higher volumes than the charge 4. Bass is slightly stronger to my ears even if the specs say different. Charge 4 plays down to 60Hz charge 5 65Hz thou there various videos around showing the Charge 5 playing down a lot lower than that. All in all it’s a decent upgrade. Lovely design superb crisp sound and crazy powerful if you need it. I rarely go above 50% volume indoors because that’s more than loud enough. well done JBL yet another cracker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever! I have never written a review for anything before, but I’ve always said I would for this speaker so I’m finally getting around to it. I bought the JBL Charge 3 a long time ago when it first came out. I didn’t know what to expect, but I have been absolutely blown away. I love this speaker and I bring it to nearly everything I do. It’s been at the pool, on the beach, on a kayak, and so much more. The sound is incredible, and it blows my mind how long the battery lasts. My friends and family have gotten on board and gotten themselves one too. If this Charge 5 is anything like my Charge 3, I will no doubt be getting one if my 3 ever goes out on me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely Hefty I bought this because my charge 4 on/off button stopped working. I loved my charge 4. This one is a bit bigger and a bit heavier, but nowhere near the heftiness of the pulse 5. The sound is pretty good, but doesn’t seem to have the deep base sound like the 4 did. As for as loudness I’m not sure as I haven’t had a purpose yet to test that feature out, but summer we shall see. And the party boost feature while nice, the connection isn’t a solid smooth one it seems to by spotty and the speakers were less than 5 feet away with no interference. And I’m not liking that I can’t connect to my older jbl speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply awesome! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Charge 5 is simply amazing! Great full sound that will fill a backyard or room easily. Water and dust proof for the beach, and it charges anything with a usb hookup. This is hands down better than the Flip, and not too big like the Extreme to pack into a small bag for the beach or pool. The highs are just a tad bright from a neutral sound, but with an added tweeter this was expected. This is basically a baby Extreme 3. I’m very pleased with JBL once again for bringing amazing portable sound to a package that can’t be beat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing newer model I had a JBL charge 3 for many years until it was stolen. I bought this as a replacement and it’s not a patch on the old version. Whilst bigger and in more range of colours, the battery life is shocking and nowhere near the advertised hours. I work 15 hour days and the Charge 3 could be played at full volume on a single charge for the duration. This one lasts about 50% of that before running out of battery and requiring a full charge again. Extremely disappointing to have made a speaker that is less of an improvement on previous models.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our JBL Charge 5 should come with a USB Type‑C cable. However, if you are referring to our JBL Charge 5 Wi‑Fi SE, please know that, as part of our effort to minimize e‑waste, we consciously choose not to include a charging cable in the packaging. You can use any standard USB-C cable to charge your JBL product, as well as a power adapter compliant with the USB-C standard. If you purchased the JBL Charge 5 and the USB Type‑C cable was missing, please contact us directly so we can assist you right away.

My charge 5 will not hold charge, what should I do

Thanks for reaching out. It is possible that the battery is losing its capacity. However, it is also possible that the battery is working correctly, but depletes more quickly when the volume is very loud and/or the bass has been boosted. Please try to charge the battery to 100% and then listen to music without any bass boosted, and at a very low volume. If the battery lasts close to the published up-to-playtime, the battery is working fine. However, if you get less than 90% of the published spec, this likely means that the battery is losing its capacity. Please contact us for further assistance.

How long should I charge the speaker before first use?

Thanks for your question. Our Charge 5 takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge using a charger rated at 5V/2A (maximum recommended).

What's the JBL Charge 5 battery? Can it be transported by plane?

Is it drop proof? How many feet? Mine now sounds like a blown speak after falling 6ft onto a wooden deck. How can i fix it? :(

Thanks for your question. Our JBL Charge 5 is not drop-proof, as it is designed to be waterproof and dustproof. Dropping it may affect performance since it isn’t built to withstand drops. can connect a pendrive?

Thank you for your inquiry. Our JBL Charge 5 does not support playing music directly from a flash drive. While it has a USB-A port, this port is primarily designed for charging other devices, functioning as a power bank. The JBL Charge 5's main audio input methods are Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi streaming (for the Wi-Fi model).

Will my Charge 5 get's better performance while using while plugged in? I always use my Charge 5 while unplugged, on the rooftop. But I found out that on my rooftop there is a power plug! Will my Charge 5 get's better performance while plugged in?

Thanks for your question. Our JBL Charge 5 does not support an AC mode, and there is no difference in sound quality when it's plugged in to the outlet. AC mode is available in our Xtreme series or Boombox series, which can increase power output when connected directly to the outlet.

Using my Charge 5 as a FIxed Home Speaker instead. I would like to use it as a Fixed Home Speaker, whihc always plugged in, and always power on. Will that increase the decay of the battery? Or is this a better way to keep the battery healthy?

Thanks for your question. Our JBL Charge 5 has a feature that it will stop charging when the battery is full. To maintain battery health, we recommend using the speaker until the battery indicator starts blinking red, then charge again. This helps ensure normal battery cycling and long-term health.
