Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Sound from Small Package [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been reviewing this speaker for about a week and a half. This speaker has a great sound which last all 8 hrs I was playing it and still had battery left. The speaker is really loud but does distort at top volume depending on music style. I really like the look of the red speaker as you can see in pictures. I was unable to try the waterproofing but sure it works just as all other features do. I feature I can't wait to try and most interesting is the Party Boost. To connect and stream to several speakers. I can't wait to hear that sound. Overall a great speaker with really good features and sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flip 5 vs flip 4 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This newer JBL flip 5 is much louder then the flip 4 when I compared them. It also has more bass. And now it's a little bigger then the 4. The flip 5 also now has a usb type C port vs the older model not having this type. What I don't like that made me give 4 stars is the fact they took away the speaker feature that let's you use it as a speaker phone and the alexa feature. It also looks tougher then the 4 if you was to drop it. This one has a waterproof of IPX7 and a battery life of 12 hours playtime which is great. But besides that I think it's a nice Improvement over the flip 4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound I bought myself 2 jbl flip 5's and they really sound amazing. I used them indoors and even outside when having a braai and they surprised me every time, as a single speaker and even in partyboost. Therefor my 5 star rating. However I must say. Playing at 70 to 80% volume constantly made the battery last only 5 hours which is not to good for me. And even when playing 30 to 50% volume it wouldnt even last 12hrs as advertised.(your site shows more than 12hrs). And when playing in partyboost the speaker connected to your phone runs flat quicker than the other that's only connected to the main speaker. I love this speaker and will recommend it to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Speaker but Cmon JBL I waited and waited.....and waited for this speaker because I lost my Flip 4 and thought the Flip 5 would be around much earlier than late July. So it finally comes and it has Partyboost that is not backward compatible with Connect+. Now I'm finding out the two features and how they connect use different hardware to do so and therefore a firmware update is most likely not possible so that partyboost and connect+ will become compatible. Dont get me wrong this is a darn good speaker and the best in its category but... NOW I am gonna get another Flip 4 to pair with my Charge 4 so I can party Connect+ style instead of Partyboost style. And no Bluetooth 5.0?!? Coming from a big fan - shame on you JBL

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't even know where to begin I purchased my first JBL Flip 5 black TL a while back. Had no complaints, loved it. One day it decides not to turn on and that was the end for that. So I decide to purchase a JBL Flip 5 white CS speaker. Not as great sounding and so I'm returning it. Then I purchase a JBL Flip 5 pink GG and it works for a few hours and dies on me like the black TL. Number 1, why would JBL make different versions of the same model affecting sound quality and durability which can be clearly heard and seen and Number 2, why have 2 out of 3 JBL Flip 5's died on me. I demand an explanation and a refund. I used to love JBL and now they are giving me reasons to not purchase any of their products again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pint sized powerhouse [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this thing for a couple weeks now and so far I love it! It charges up fairly quickly and the charge lasts almost all day. A round of golf and a barbecue after and it was still running strong. At low volume the sound is nice and full. At high volume some of the deep bass drops out but it still sounds great. This little speaker is louder than it looks too. It’s small enough to put right in a cup holder or there’s a lanyard on one end. I wish they’d put a lanyard fitting on each end at 90 degrees so you could hang it and it would face you like they do with the Extreme. And it’s waterproof! Now I need at least one more so I can link them in stereo with the JBL app. Well done JBL!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why Party Boost If you already made customers buy into the connect plus why make the party boost, it already connects to multiple so why make party boost, you guys are loosing people with your decisions..I was looking into the flip 5 and you took away connect plus with a money scheme which is ....party boost, no aux, mono speaker,4.2 Bluetooth while phones have 5.0 like my S10+.. Don't make your old models look like a better version even with your latest release.. Please DO NOT DO THIS TO THE XTREME 3 PLEASE KEEP STEREO NO PARTY BOOST...or release a update to pair with plus and keep the AUX

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice sound [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great sound from a little speaker ,to be so small this speaker does a good job at creating a decent sound stage ,it sounds even better if u connect 2 of them together and put them in different part of the room , the sound is amazing ,it’s ipx7 waterproof the battery life is decent ,I played it at a little over half volume for about 6 hours and it still has over half battery life left .This is a great compact speaker to carry in a back pact or use the strap and carry in your hand or even a jacket pocket

Can I connect it to my TV with an Aux cable?

Thanks for your question. Our JBL Flip 5 does not have an aux port, so you can not connect it to your TV with an aux cable. To connect it to your TV, you will need to use Bluetooth (if your TV supports it).

Does it have a mic for phone calls?

can I use it while connected on electrical power source

Thanks for your question. Yes, there is no harm in leaving our JBL Flip 5 connected to electricity at all times. It has a PCM (Protection Circuit Module) and a charge management IC built in, which manages and detects charging. It will monitor and control the charging current, and once fully charged, it will cut off the current to protect the battery.

Can it be used safely in an infrared sauna

Thanks for your question. While the Flip 5 is water resistant, it is not designed to withstand prolonged exposure to such high temperatures. High heat can damage the battery, internal components, and even the cover.

Used our flip 5 for the first time last night this morning it doesn’t turn on tried charging it and nothing happens

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We recommend doing a power cycle by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds while the unit is not plugged into a power source. Also, try using another charging cable, power adapter, and wall outlet. If you need more help, please contact our customer support.
