[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The speaker is the most versatile speaker I have ever seen. It has many functions and options. The sound is powerful and pumping it is clear and crisp at all volume levels. With the EQ controls you can adjust the Bass and Treble with ease. The speaker is sleek and stylish and actually pretty light weight for its size and it very easy and simple to connect devices and controls. The speaker also has a karaoke function and comes with an awesome mic that connects automatically and if that is not enough the is a jack for another mic. It also can function as an amp for a guitar or you can play along with your music. The light show is a pretty cool add on that helps keep the vibe and tempo going. The battery life is pretty solid and you can also charge your devices with the USB port. Truly a Party On The Go, it is an all round Multi Functional Speaker with superb sound and quality

On the Go does not work with app
I purchased the on the go essential to go with my other two party boxes 120. They pair without any issues but have learned after buying that it will not work with the JBL Party Box App. Very disappointed. The reason it is called “on the go” is that it is very light and portable. Why would this not be included in the app? Very poor that JBL does not include this speaker in there Party Box Collection even though they market it as a Party Box. WHY????????????????? What a miss????????????????

The ultimate portable party starter!

Despite being slightly bigger than expected, its portability remains great thanks to the strap and microphone holder. It easily transforms any setting into a lively party and the light show feature brings it to the next level. Setting it up was a breeze and I barely had to read any of the instructions. It felt easy and intuitive to use! But my favorite thing about this speaker is the added waterproof feature which adds an extra layer of convenience and peace of mind. The sound quality is great, and the ability to seamlessly control and mix both the music and microphone audio is outstanding. My only minor gripe is the placement of the microphone holder at the back, which prevents the speaker from sitting flush against the wall during storage. Overall, it's an outstanding product!

The perfect partying package

As any other JBL product, the built quality of this speaker is outstanding. Every detail was thought thoroughly and it’s the perfect speaker for a gathering. It is important to note that the tuning knobs on top of the speaker are for the wireless microphone and not for the speaker itself. That was a feature I noticed afterwards. Moving along, the fine adjustment knobs work great, they add value to the experience, and it makes singing/karaoke more enjoyable. As it allows customization to each performer, it makes you want to grab the microphone and become a part of the action. The narrow long gap/indent in front of the speaker also serves a holder purpose for the mobile devices. Lyrics or different visuals can be presented at an easy-to-view angle thanks to that design. Personally, if I am going on a picnic, a little backyard party, or a small city gathering, I would rather have this speaker than a regular JBL Partybox or Boombox. They sound very similar to each other, but the addition of the microphone makes a huge difference.

The lights work very well and although they are not as customizable as a JBL Pulse speaker, there is a lighting setting for everyone. From a white strobe lighting to smooth and vibrant hue changes, they are pleasant to watch. The lights are responsive to audio as well, they get thicker or move quicker once a louder note is played which is awesome. They are fully synchronized with the music and the input from the microphone.

The microphone performs with no delay and the knobs help tremendously to achieve the right vocal setting. The two little microphone holders on the side of the speaker are a great touch and very useful. The strap and the strap holders are very sturdy, I can see myself having it on my shoulder for long periods of time with no discomfort. The other wired microphone and guitar inputs are a very classy touch as well. I cannot try the guitar input as I do not own one, however, based on my experience, the sound will be similar to what it is with the microphone. Therefore, I could see guitar players utilizing this feature often.

On-speaker controls and buttons are designed nicely with proper indicators. They are smooth to the touch and to twist. Meanwhile the buttons that are meant to be pressed are quite stiff (in a positive way) and they give good responses. The “Bass Boost”, power on/off, and Bluetooth buttons all light up which is great. However, it would have been great to have the light show button actually light up as well. As it is a main feature of the product and mostly used at night, it would make sense to have it light up. Additionally, since there are already five knobs on the speaker, it would have been better to have a knob for volume as well. My mind kept searching for a wheel to twist to adjust the volume after twisting the eq knobs but then I had to settle for flat volume control buttons. Overall, all the controls someone would need are all located on the speaker. Many changes could be made directly on the speaker without the need of a mobile device. In addition, the back of the speaker has an input for the power cable, aux, and a USB Type-A to charge mobile devices. Most of us need extra juice when partying or after a long day so that is a useful add-on.

Audio Quality:
The speaker is equipped with the signature JBL Pro Sound blasting 100 watts of power. It is very powerful both inside and outside. The audio is pretty much the same as a regular JBL Partybox, this version just comes with the microphone. There is no significant sound distortion either. The tunes get slightly flat as the speaker reaches maximum values but it’s very minimal and barely noticeable to everyday users – not a dealbreaker at all. The highs and mids are very crisp and defined, while the lows are punchy. The lows are incredible as there are two “Bass Boost” options via the button on the speaker. They make a recognizable difference and truly enhance the quality of the output. Especially in genres that include prominent lows such as dance music/electro pop and rap.

Overall, this is a very solid speaker with a powerful output and quality features. It’s well-made with extra attention to detail.

Sleek and powerful speaker

I also tried out the microphone and sang some karaoke and the sound quality was very crisp. It is a perfect device for an outdoor bbq and the battery life is incredible. I also downloaded the party box app which allows me to control the settings and the light. The light show was pretty cool and my 2 year old really loves changing the settings. This speaker will light up a party and you can’t go wrong with it!

Great Product and Great Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this thing. Its a solid portable speaker and does a great job of making a lot of good sound. It is a bit lighter on the bass but overall I think that it does a really good job. It really comes into its home in outdoor areas as it does a great job of filling a lot of space with sound with out being overpowering. My only gripe would be that it can only link with another speaker of its type and cant use TWS like all the other partyboxes. As for the microphone, it sounds great and doesn't have feedback or any other issues; however, setting it up was a bit confusing (turn the mic on and set it on top of the speaker then turn the speaker on). Overall, sounds great though and a very quality product. Also liked the sound modification knobs on top of it.

What is the difference vs regular version of PartyBox-On-the-GO? No comparison option
Thanks for your question. The main differences between our JBL PartyBox On-The-Go and JBL PartyBox On-The-Go Essential are that on the Essential mode, we have removed the aux input and the USB charge out is 5V and 0.5 A compared with the 5V 2.1 A that is on the JBL PartyBox OTG. Audio quality and performance are the same since they have the same driver size installed and watts.

Is it possible to connect an another wireless microphone to this speaker?

You can either use 1 Wired AND 1 Wireless (pre-paired, included)
OR
2 Wireless (Wireless Microphone Set must be used, sold separately).
Please note that you will need the JBL Wireless Mic set with included dongle. The set comes with 2 microphones that are paired to the dongle. You put the dongle in the mic port on the speaker. You can then use the 2 microphones from the Wireless Mic set. The microphone that's included with the speaker won't work when you use the Wireless Mic set.
