After a bit of experimentation to get the grind and dosages right I am very happy. The hot water function isn't great, the water drips out very slow, boiling a kettle would be faster for making drinks like tea. If this machine had the ability to steam milk and extract espresso at the same time it would be 5 stars. I picked it up on sale so it was good value for the price and narrower than similar models so fits in a smaller space nicely

Our old Sunbeam had started suffering from incontinence and to save it further embarrassment and the ever increasing problem of mopping up puddles, we put it out of its misery and ‘retired’ it to the shed. Enter La Specialista…badda bing! and boy was this easy to set up and knock out some delicious brews without having to invest in a sculpted beard and funky coverall either. It’s a bit of a task to work out the exact dose to start and if you overdo it, the basket thingy (baristas the world over are screaming at the screen right now) won’t locate in the head thingy. Scoop out and try again soft lad. The semi-auto dosing with dose and guide feature is nifty and almost mess free, and the tamping process is a doddle too. Even in the factory fresh setting a well balanced cappuccino was within reach of this bumbling barista. Now milk steaming has always been beyond me - I manage to create superheated milkshakes with no effort, but for me microfoam latte nirvana was always firmly in coffee-ninja territory. Not with La Specialista, now it’s sifty soft goodness every time and soy or cow juice gets stellar results. Now all I need to master is that fancy tulip heart monks head thing…look out You Tube!
