How many hrs can thus be run in one cooking session? I want to use this for infusing jars of vanilla beans & vodka from 6 to 10 hrs

Hi. Does the pot need to have a lid on it?

Can the Sous Vide wand sit on the bottom of the pot?
Thanks for your question Sonya. The unit can touch the bottom of the pot, but it should not be solely resting on the bottom without the use of the clip. As long as the clip is holding the unit to the pot, there is no need to worry about the bottom of the pod touching the bottom of the pot. Hope this helps with your query.

Hi, Do you know if it would be possible to heat a big pot of Hot Chocolate with it?
Thanks for your question Gabriella. This is not suitable for Hot Chocolate. The Westinghouse Sous Vide Immersion Cooker is a style of cooking in which food is sealed in a watertight pouch and placed into a water bath to be cooked slowly at precise temperatures. Hope this helps with your query.

Hi, What volume of water can this heat?
Thanks for your question. It varies depending on what you are cooking. Traditionally, a medium to large metal pot can be used as a water bath container. Ideally the pot should be at least 8" (20cm) deep, about 12" (30cm) in diameter and hold around 11 litres, but it mostly comes down to personal preference. Note: You need to fill the container with enough water to cover the min level indicator but below the max level indicator. If the min level indicator is not submerged, the unit will not operate.
