Poor Quality Temperature Markings
This is the second kettle we have purchased. Our first was covered under warranty as it didn't 'turn off' and the temperature markings simply wiped away (our supplier was fabulous for their quick replacement). However, once again the temperature markings are wearing off and this time our kettle is barely a year old. Base is only wiped with a damp cloth - no chemicals or washing liquid. Also the metallic paint or colouring used on the inside of the buttons are also fading - bizarre manufacturing. We have had a Russell Hobbs coffee maker for 29 years and it still works brilliantly but this product is a shame as it could be a great product.

Far too noisy
I purchased this kettle about 12 months ago. It is so noisy that it actually wakes people up when turned on in the morning. Everyone who stays says the kettle woke them up, which isn’t great when I get up at 5am every morning and just want a cuppa. It gurgles and pops and is by far the loudest kettle I’ve ever had. I think the beeping every time you turn it on, lift it, set it back down is annoying. I wish I could turn that feature off! I like the keep warm function but rarely use it because the constant noise of it boiling is brain numbing!!!
I’m looking forward to the day it breaks and I can buy a different kettle. No, I’m not joking.

I purchased this kettle a couple of years ago as the existing kettle was on its last legs but did not use it straight away. The time eventually came, and I commenced using it. Like other reviewers have commented the paint (written numbers) started to rub off. The main disappointing thing is that it has a tendency to let out an audible sound and switch off about 5 seconds after starting the process (as other reviewers have indicated). Just then it took 4 attempts to boil the kettle. I could accept it if the water in the kettle was moving and "rocking" the connection but thats not the case. Time to get a new kettle and it definitely won't be this brand.

Sleek and Speedy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] How exciting to receive a Russell Hobbs Addison Kettle Matte Black to test. I love the blue LED lights it uses to show your selections, Yes, I said selections, you can choose the temperature, so that means if I'm making a cup of tea or coffee or herbal tea I can choose from the temperature range - that's fantastic. There is just 1 star less on my rating because I find the cord for the kettle base is a little bit too short for me, I know the jug is cordless but it would be more convenient with a longer cord. In saying that, it has an amazingly fast boiling time and looks very sleek in my kitchen.

It's a nice kettle and the water gets extremely hot which is nice but the writing and numbers have started rubbing off which is very frustrating considering it was only bought about 2 months ago

Faulty and cheap
The issues I am having with this kettle is (after reading many reviews) happening to everyone. The numbers have worn off quickly. The kettle shorts out every single time and we have to jiggle the ketle for it to turn on again. It isn't an issue with our home as we tried many switches and powerpoints and all the same (it also is a recurring issue with other people). I really loved the idea of this kettle as it looks sleek and has the different temp options. What sold me was the keep warm function as it is super helpful when making bottles for a newborn. It's a shame

Fast and hot boil
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried all settings and found the 95 degree setting the best and easily the most drinkable. The kettle isn’t loud and gives a beep to let you know when it has completely boiled. It also beeps when you remove from the base and replace to the base. With the sleek look and fast boil, it’s one of the better kettles I’ve had. I really enjoy the boiling options, the choice is easy and control over the temperature is even better. I even used the kettle for my cooking this week knowing it wasn’t going to get too hot at the 70 degree mark for what I needed. Just brilliant!!!

Perfect cuppa every time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before filling I noticed how light the kettle was. So easy to select the right temperature for your beverage and it is much quieter than other kettles I have used. No need to go back and check if you've switched it on, it beeps when you do and the button remains lit so you know it's doing it's job. It also gives a short beep when it's boiled so you don't have to touch the kettle to check! I also used the keep warm function and after 40 minutes the water was still hot enough to make another cup! It also looks very sleek and modern, suiting most home decor.

Having doubts about this purchase. I only just bought this kettle yesterday, despite following the booklet instructions I can smell & taste plastic. You can smell plastic just by standing close enough to it without having to open the lid after each boil:(

Last month I brought it from Harvey Norman Wellington shop and after a month of use, there is a dark spot (like rust) now. It is stainless steel so, I'm working what really it is?
