Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Vaccum we have ever owned We did a lot of research before investing in the Dyson gen 5 detect and are thrilled with it! It makes cleaning accessible and easy. The dust detection light is incredible and the fluffy optic head cleans so well. I’ve used the different attachments on our mattress, bed head and lounge and they have come out so clean. We have carpet in our bedrooms that is a little old and it has cleaned so much dust from them leaving them looking great. I would really recommend this Vaccum, we were privileged enough to be invest during the Black Friday sales and it has made a huge difference in our lives. Keeping our home clean has never been so easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY A DYSON (VERY FRAGILE; POOR WARRANTY) I bought this $1700 vacuum 2-3 months ago. A small plastic part on the brush head failed. Went into the store to get it repaired or replaced. To my amazement Dyson requires the whole vacuum cleaner for a warranty return. So I had to go home approx 25km away and bring in the whole vacuum. It takes 4-6 weeks for a repair. I got a pathetic loan vacuum cleaner from Harvey Norman that is about 2 feet tall and doesnt pickup anything. I am annoyed because: 1) a $1700 vacuum is super fragile; 2) the whole vacuum cleaner has to go in for repair which will take 4-6 weeks; 3) a loan vacuum cleaner is unusable. Conclusion: DO NOT BUY A DYSON!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They weren't kidding Thing's a beast. Way out of my budget but wanted to invest in something good. I live in a rental house made up of 80% carpet (thick 1980s premium wool carpet) and our only complaint is that this thing is maybe too powerful. This carpet was "clean" and was vacuumed regularly, and within 30 seconds of turning it on, one square meter of floor had filled the entire canister with a kind of silky grey soot I've never seen before; dust, skin cells etc. It took days to do the entire house and we ended up pulling about four kilos of dust/cells/microbes. This made emptying it a hassle; it filled up so quickly, I was emptying it 4-5 times each session. What the turbo head picks up is also so fine, when you dispose of it, it turns into smoke, so discard of contents outdoors and with a mask on. It was so powerful, it managed to also rip up a small piece of loose carpet, so be aware of this. The piezo counter is freaking awesome, on the first day we accumulated almost a billion particles altogether. I now vacuum three times a day and still manage to walk away with a canister of grey powder. The air and smell of the home has completely changed and the carpet feels plush and beautiful to walk on - like hotel carpet. It's an impressive piece of machinery. Don't buy it if you're strapped for cash - but if you can flex a little, it's 150% worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever Absolutely the best vacuum I’ve ever had! I’ve been wanting a Dyson forever and was looking at another model when the Gen5 made its way on the scene. It’s perfect. I barely want to walk on my tile floors now after seeing all the particles it picks up displayed AND shown by the light feature. You have no idea how much dust there really is until this points it out. I’m so happy with it and how well it totally cleans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great vacuum, well worth the upgrade. I had the V10 for the last five years - which I always liked, but this Gen5 beats it hands down. Sure, it's a little heavier, but it feels like it has twice the power. The V10 had to go over the same bit of carpet a few times, but this does it in one - plus the battery has much better staying power. The hardfloor head with the green light is pretty cool - but also a little scary when you see how much dust and hair is on your bathroom floor. I can certainly recommend the upgrade from the 10, but can't speak to upgrading from later models. I got it on sale for $999 - I imagine feeling differently if I'd spent $1500, but at the $999 I'm extremely pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gen 5 Detect Review The Gen5 detect is outstanding, I have upgraded from a V11 absolute, which I thought was a great machine, but now after using the Gen5 detect, I am finding it is a far more superior machine. The amount of dust and pet hair I am removing from my carpet is impressive. The on and off button is great, I always found having to hold the button on the V11 while vacuuming began uncomfortable.

This vacuum cleans well, especially with three Labradors shedding fur and two birds shedding feathers and dander everywhere! Great for pet owners! The HEPA filter catches the dust, and the cylinder collects the rest—super easy to clean out. The attachments are super easy to swap, and it’s lightweight and battery-powered, making it easy to move around. I find the battery life adequate for my daily vacuuming routine, but if I need extra time, it’s easy to recharge.
