Reviews
Panasonic DMR-HWT260 Smart Network 1TB Hard Drive Recorder with Twin HD Tuner is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 132.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful PVR I bought this Panasonic PVR a few weeks ago after my Topfield PVR gave it up after 4 years of faithful service. I have to say that once setup and getting used to the features it is a brilliant little PVR. This new Panasonic has internet connection which is a bonus for me compared to my old Topfield that didn't have the internet connection. The only down note is that my old Topfield had Quad Recording which was very handy but I can live with 'only' a Twin Tuner on my new Panasonic. Very happy with the features, quality and easy to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the earlier Panasonic models Panasonic have made quite a few changes to the visual layout the software on the screen which I think have not improved the operation of this recorder compared to many previous models which we are still using. Yellow light colours are harder to see on the screen, the sounds needs to be turned up significantly, the buttons on the remote are all moved around, only to name a few of the not so good aspects of this new model. The earlier model such as the 2014 DMR-BWT835 model which I still operate along side the new one is much better in many aspects to the new model. Even the models prior to 2014 were much better than the current model which is a big disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to use Easy to set up compact and light. You can watch Netflix while taping which is great. Remote is simple to use but when using large centre button the surrounding buttons are too close and you can easily hit them instead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre - "this ain't no Tivo" I bought this to replace my Tivo. It's ok but has a poor interface, doesn't allow watching from USB while recording, actually there are a lot of things it doesn't do while recording. The rewind TV feature can only be used under certain circumstances and navigation is woeful. It's good enough but don't expect to be impressed. However if you have a Tivo that needs replacing it's about as good as it gets but be prepared to be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features and easy to set up I have had this for a month and found it very easy to use and to set up. When connected to the internet the default setup includes access to Netflix and Quickflix and to TV options like the ABC iView. My only complaint is that I needed to purchase a separate RCA cable to connect the audio from my older TV. I was expecting that to be included.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful My first review rated this machine average as a PVR, ignoring the bloated "extras". After a week's use that needs to be downgraded to awful, especially at the high price. Compared to what it is replacing (no longer available) the machine is positively primitive. It can only record two programs compared to the industry norm of four across two channels. This renders the machine pretty much useless at peak times such as the Australian Open tennis, Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Response time to most buttons, especially the skip buttons is terrible. The skip times can't be adjusted. You can't record two successive shows on the same channel without losing time in between. I could go on, but..... Terribly disappointing from Panasonic, whose products are usually industry leaders. I shall probably buy a second cheap machine to supplement my recording capability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SUPER Easy to use, Haters just ignoran ! Daily use, great media server, Recorde , playback device etc.. Excellent once you get to know what it is capable of, I encourage anyone struggling to actually have a read and try a few things before sounding like a flog with your negative review.. Solid performer, easily and happily recommend to anyone looking for a media player, Recorder, network and streaming device, plus the obvious blu ray support, along with great mobile apps, it's a great bit of kit for the coin..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything a pvr neeeds We purchased a Fetch box and returned it because it needs the internet to record shows. Then we bought Panasonic unit is better than we could have expected. The great feature is the word recording & series recording. The quality is great & very easy to use. & yes I would get another one of these units.

Questions & Answers

All our tv comes via internet and not satellite or aerial. Is this the correct model to record via this medium

Asked by: Stevo
Great question Stevo. There are no models that are able to record streamed content, as this would go against copyright law. The models we sell are only for Freeview recording only through satellite, or terrestrial connection. Trust this helps! ^CO

Hi, does this unit have a USB input port

Asked by: Richard
Great question Richard. Yes! It has 2 ports, the front port can support media playback on USB Flash Drives, while the USB at the back of the unit supports USB Hard Disk Drives for playback or recording. Trust this helps! ^CO

can this video player ply all country DVD codes, not just 3. and 4.

Asked by: peter
Thanks for your question Peter. This is a 1TB recorder. It's for recording TV shows from free to air, but those recordings stay on the hard drive of the recorder. It doesn't have a player for playing DVDs or blue-rays. Trust this helps!

Presumably this unit will work with my samsung smart tv but can I pause and fast forward recorder programs

Asked by: Brian
Thanks for your question Brian. This recorder is a model that connects to an outside aerial that if the Samsung TV is connected to an outside aerial and not a Satellite dish then yes it should work with Samsung TV. If the TV program is being viewed through the recorder then it will be possible to pause live TV and then catch up or fast forward through the program. Trust this helps!

Do you have another device to connect which will stream freeview from my Modem?

What feature of vodafone TV will this device replace for me? The only input I have is LAN or wifi - no aerial - will this work? Can I get the freeview channels? Netflix, Amazon prime, Disney+, You tube, Neon. MTV, HBO, SOHO. Google TV? Record series?

Asked by: Terry
Thanks for your question Terry. Without an Aerial, you won't be able to record or get Freeview Channels. These use the aerial to tune in the channels and records from that signal. It should have You Tube and Netflix but unfortunately, it won't have access to Amazon Prime or Disney, Neon or any other major stream service. Hope this helps with your query.
