Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beautiful versatile lens I have the existing Sony 70-200 F4 G lens that I love for landscape photography. I decided to buy the version 2 lens for the macro capability, the fact that it is compatible with the teleconvertors and for the fast autofocus with the linear focus motors. When used with my Sony A7RV with insect subjectcdetect I capture beautiful macro shots. With the teleconvertor or punch in 1.5 crop I get some nice birds in flight photos with good reach with this very light lens. The shorter length when packed away means I can leave it attached to my camera and it still fits in my messenger bag for compact light carry. It really is like having three lenses in one. I really love this versatile lens & the shots render beautifully straight out of camera & I don’t feel like they need very much editing! Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filmmaking I bought this lens a month ago. I am very pleased with the image quality, sharpness, and color reproduction. This lens is ideal for commercial use and for clearly capturing what is happening in front of you. Macro photography is simply magnificent with a very short focusing distance. Video stabilization is top notch. I even recommend using it without stabilizers, both external and internal. The image is very stable and vivid, perfect for documentaries! The build quality and glass are a separate topic, as I consider this lens to be the benchmark for Sony quality. I love this lens.

As a landscape photographer, I find this lens to be incredibly versatile. Its compact size and light weight make it perfect for carrying around on long hikes, and the image sharpness is simply outstanding. The macro functionality adds an extra dimension, allowing me to capture stunning close-up shots with incredible detail. This lens has quickly become an essential part of my kit. Full disclosure: I am a Sony digital imaging advocate, but I purchased this lens myself and am genuinely impressed by its performance.

I’m astounded at how good it is with the 1.4 and 2x teleconverters both for macro and telephoto use. It’s small and light too. If you’re looking for flexibility and high performance in 70mm to 400 mm range in a small light package this is for you. I’m very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sony 70-200 f4 gii with macro Ive only had this lens a couple of days but it is nothing short of brilliant, the standard 70-200 reach is excellent but when you switch to the 70-200 macro setting it takes the camera into. new level. In the past Ive owned the f2.8 version of this lens but really nothing is missing in the F4 as i normally shoot in f4.5 or higher. The quality is on par with the f2.8 and when you add in that it is smaller and lighter and has full time macro it is a no brainer which one to get. My wife has used the lens as well and she is so impressed that we have ordered another one for her

But I'm a little bit disappointed with Sony for not being able to include any bag for the lens. It's okay, we can buy it, but when you spend premium money on premium lens, you expect it to be perfect...and to save on a simple bag? Sony, it's embarrassing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Lens and Stunning Images Recently bought this lens, having just moved from Fujifilm and the build quality is fantastic. The image quality is excellent and love all the functionality that can be used direct on the lens. Tested it for a few macro shots and was super happy with the images, sharp and great contrast. Really enjoyed using the lens and using it with the foot bracket allows you to have a better grip for handheld images. I bought the 1.4 teleconverter to pair with this and it is a great combination. It's the most I've spent on a lens however it gives me what I want, excellent quality and images.
