Rated 5 out of 5 by from Image Quality outstanding Having studied several favourable reviews I purchased this lens for general purpose use ranging from travel, reportage and landscape to environmental portraiture and group portraiture. The image quality is outstanding, its speed in achieving focus on my A7iii is excellent, whilst its build quality is what you would expect for a G Master lens at the price point set. The aperture ring is a necessary feature for an aperture priority photographer like me. All in all very satisfied and I anticipate several years service from this professional standard lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An exceptional ‘do everything’ lens. Long story short, this lens is permanently attached to my camera. For my needs, no matter what I’m doing or where I’m going, I know the 35mm will do the job beautifully. Enough width for landscapes, perfect for street and travel, and low enough distortion for beautiful environmental portraits and product photography. The lens is close focusing and absolutely razor sharp. If you want to call it a negative, the barrel is plastic but it’s high quality and very resistant to wear and impacts, more so than painted metal. Sony have hit an absolute home run. This is an all-time great 35mm lens by anyone’s standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality lens I bought this a week and a half ago and have tried it out in my home, out in the fields, woods and a wedding. I am so impressed by it. It is really sharp even at f1.4 and the bokeh is gorgeous! I also like that you can adjust the aperture on the lens itself. And the focus range is pretty close so you can get almost macro-level shots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A special lens, but is it worth the price tag? Having purchased a Sony camera specifically knowing I would pair it with this G-master lens, I have only used this lens for a couple of weeks and the results are excellent. I love the image quality and capabilities to compress and isolate the subject with a 35mm. However, considering the cost of this lens in comparison to the 35mm FE F1.8, which I purchased first, I’m a little disappointed with the build quality of the the copy I have received as the body case next to the aperture ring creaks when handling the lens body. This isn’t what I would expect at this price point and especially being a G-Master lens, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seamless Process I have now taken advantage of both the “winter cashback” deals and the introductory offers from Sony with regards my brand new A7 IV camera body and 2 lenses. Being brand new to photography the initial cost is daunting but Sony have somewhat eased that burden with these cashback offers. The whole process has been very clear and have been kept up to date at regular intervals. Many thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for Sony users Bought the FE 35mm f1.4 GM to go with my Sony A7R4, hesitated over the price but it's worth every penny & certainly warrants the G Master badge, brilliant piece of kit. The build quality is excellent, sharpness even wide open is superb & close focus range (around 10") is very useful. Focusing is fast, accurate & smooth, f1.4 is great in low light, bokeh is dreamy & at 524g it's not heavy - makes a great pairing with the A7R4 & is a go to lens. Using the APSC functionality on the camera allows me to use this lens at 1.5 crop factor giving me 52.5mm eq focal length which is a massive bonus (this is a camera feature not lens feature). Switching the aperture ring click per stop on or off is a nice feature, personally I prefer the clicks. Lens hood is more robust than many with a decent locking attachment meaning it can't accidently be knocked off, you have to press a button on the hood to release it. I'd highly recommend this lens, it's fab!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing Unfortunately, this lens has proven to be a bit disappointing for me. I mainly shoot Nightscape and purchased this lens due to its wide aperture and expected quality. Sadly the lens has shown massive fringing of stars for my astro nightscape work. All the stars come out purple and I need to apply defringe in Lightroom and 75% desaturation to eliminate the problem. It is also very prone to lens flare during sunset and sunrise. Given this is a G Master lens and the other G Master lenses I own have been truly superb, the 35mm is very disappointing in these areas. Certainly sharp and clear and everything else about the lens is excellent, but I was surprised it just can't cope with astro work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 35mm Perfection!!!! Outstanding 35mm lens that truly delivers great optical quality for both photo and video. Small and lightweight it is a joy to shoot with all day. Great contrast and flare control with lightning fast auto focus, a must buy for any lover of this focal length.
