It utilises pigment inks so your documents will remain clear and vibrant over time. It can also handle high-volume printing tasks as it comes with two paper trays that can hold a total of 400 papers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great printer but scanner feed eats documents. Fast quality printing with fairly straight forward setup on all devices over Wifi. Biggest issue is the document scanner on the top eats my documents. The first few documents scanned a little crooked but acceptable, but one document was eaten by the rollers and jammed the mechanism that required opening the scanner feed and cleaning it out. Luckily the document wasn't irreplaceable. Yet to see how the ink usage performs. I run the prints on economy mode and they are slightly lower in contrast, hence saving ink but I need most of my documents clear and crisp so I have to change the setting when required to normal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brother JD4540DW I am on my third Brother MFC printer, having previously owned 2 LED MFC printers. I had researched options before buying the first Brother LED, as I wanted a Laser to replace previous inkjet. The Brother LED printers were reliable and good value for money. Decided to change back to liquid ink this year as usage requirements changed. Settled on the 4540 after comparing with other brands. As before easy to setup and use. Only missing function compared to previous unit was lack of single pass double sided scanning. The 2 printers are different price range so not surprising, but would be a nice to have.

I love the double drawers — such a practical design that makes everyday printing effortless. The Brother prints super fast, uses far less ink, and has been an absolute dream to own. No more stressing about whether the printer will decide to work. It just works, every single time. I bought mine from Amazon Australia and the whole process was smooth and reliable. I highly recommend this printer to anyone wanting a dependable, no‑fuss machine that performs beautifully.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inkvestment is not Ink tank. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product is good, but I wish the cartridges were true ink tank cartridges. Brother's INKVestment system is a bit confusing because I initially thought it was an actual tank cartridge. After printing a few full-color photo pages, I noticed the ink levels dropped significantly. I understand that when you insert the cartridges for the first time, the printer uses some ink to fill the built-in reservoir. However, the ink levels still decreased drastically after printing just a few more full-color photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Choice Have been very pleased with this printer so far. It was easy to set up with my Apple Mac, and also works fine with iPhone and iPad via AirPrint. It still surprises me how fast it is, my last printer would whir and click and mess around for ages before it started printing, but not the Brother MFCJ4540DW, before I know it, it is spitting the document out, with good clear text. The colour printing is excellent too. Scanning and copying has been faultless. This is my first Brother printer and it has proved to be an excellent choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer I've had these all in one machines for over 10 years, this one is amazing, still can't get over the printing speed, I like how the family can connect and print even with there phones, the only thing that worries me is the cost to REFILL THE INK TANKS - DON'T LET THIS BE IT'S DOWN FALL. OTHERWISE AMAZING PRINTER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Review of my Brother MFC-J4540DW Happy with my new brother printer. It’s fast and very easy to use and connects to my IMac perfectly. Wireless connection is good. So far ink consumption is satisfactory because I have been doing a lot of colour printing. The only fault I do have is the quality of photo printing the colour appears very light and there doesn’t seem to be any way to adjust the colour quality .Brother has emailed me with tips of how I can do different thinks which I find helpful At the end of the day I am very happy with my purchase

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK so far Set up was relatively easy but surprisingly time consuming. I chose this model because a similar previous Brother MFC lasted more than twice as long as any previous printer of other makes. I hope it will do as well as its predecessor. Scanning to PC file initiated on MFC is slow to start and often takes a second try. It always begins with a message that the relevant software must be installed on the PC, which it is. It also took me some time to find where scans to file were going and work out how to change to the folder I want them to land in. With the previous machine the folder opened automatically when scan was complete, but I haven't worked out how to make that happen with this one. An actual instruction booklet, not just a set up guide, with the machine would be useful.
