Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent a3 multi purpose If you ask me should a home office get this printer the answer is yes. It is chock full of features and is a3 sized. The only downside is that you can't automatically double side scan i.e. need to do 2 passes to scan both sides using the automatic feed. The location of the cable (i.e. LAN, phone) is unusual because not on back of unit but inside is a little qwirky but makes no real difference. The touch screen is excellent and the functions you can do is also excellent. there is no printed manual that comes with it and I've no use for fax so can't review that. the print speed is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fully featured and surprisingly fast [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a number of Brother printers over the past 30 years, both at home and work. They have always been reliable and toner/ink has been affordable. I killed my last laser printer with cheap aftermarket toner, so I replaced it with the MFC-J6540DW because I wanted colour and I regularly scan lots of documents. This one just has the bonus of printing A3, and the duplex functions save SO much time!. Now that I've run a few hundred sheets though it, I have found it to be fast, quiet, easy to use, and the print quality is amazing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THE WORST! Would have to be the worst printer I have ever used! Bought it for its A3 printing/scanning capabilities - nothing but headaches. Need to change paper out of the machine ea time you go from A4 to A3 and back - other machines can store both. Paper jams almost every time - so much so Brother even suggest keeping some of the packaging for removing paper scraps when the machine blocks. I'll never purchase Brother again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great scanner, Poor printer Great scanner but extremely poor printer. Goes through ink faster than using toilet paper. And the ink level drops even it I don't use the printer. And the cost of a set of genuine Brother ink cartridges is about half the cost of the printer itself. Try using non-genuine Brother inks and it has a hissy fit. If you just want a scanner, fine. But don't even think of using this monstrosity as a printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and efficient A Quiet fast machine that does everything that you could ask for Quickly and efficiently. This is the second Brother machine that I have purchased. After 15 years of service from the older machine. and allthough it was still going strong, I thought it might be time to upgrade to this new model, which is much faster. I am very pleased with it.

I am disappointed that the networking only allows for ethernet or Airprint, but not both ethernet and Airprint simultaneously. My previous printer had both active. The first page out is quite fast. I am also pleased that I can print and scan up to A3 page size.

(Double sided A3 Newsletter fo my Probus Club) Sometimes stuffs up when printing reverse side by picking up two sheets of paper. If paper tears, it can be difficult to remove torn pieces (Machine sensors are most efficient) Can a bulk ink tank be fitted to this machine?

It tells us that there is a problem and we follow the directions which leads to the printer going to a repair place within 1 week of purchasing. We have been in talks with Brother and they don't even offer a new replacement. No...go to the repairer.
