Have had better.
Not very impressed with this machine. This is my third fisher paykel washingmachine in probably 15 years. Other two have had agitators, not this one. Previous ones were 6.5kg. New one is 9kg, but doesn't have as much capacity. What I could do in two loads in smaller capacity now takes me 3 loads,so using more water. Need to use warm water now to get a cleaner wash. Even then the wash is not as clean as I would like. Wish now I kept my old one and had it repaired. Had it for 18 years too. Never needed any repairs in that time.

The lack of an agitator, yes gives more room, but clothes comes out all twisted, its like going back to the old twin tub days. Too many options 95% of them I will never use. I mostly use the quick cycle because of the cycle time as I dont want to be hanging washing out at lunch time. In my old FP washer I could reduce the time of the cycle manually for a quicker wash.
Would love to be able to go back to my 11 year old model.

Quiet and efficient
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had our 8kg washing machine for a few weeks now. It is much quieter than our old one. It is so quiet we don’t hear it when a load finishes. I have put the app on my phone and use it to do delay starts when I am busy elsewhere in the house. This machine has two lint filters that I empty once each night. It took a few days before I figured out all the bells and whistles. I had the instruction book out and checked it before each load. We are happy wi our purchase.

Poor features
I bought this washer three weeks ago and I have numerous issues with it:
The autofill is not adequate; the lid lock is very frustrating having to pause and unlock it every time you want to inspect the wash or add clothes; there is no way to save the final rinse water; the eco wash does not rinse the clothes adequately; you can’t change the wash options (like increase the water level) once the cycle has started – have to stop machine completely and reprogram it. I will be selling this machine to some other unfortunate.

The slow closing lid is another great feature and self levelling ability compensates any type of floor

I am very pleased to say that my new Fisher and Paykel is living up to the standard set by it's predecessor and hubby has continued to put a load of washing in................ just need to get him to actually take it out and hang it on the line!!

Is the F&P a great machine?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its a great washer! I seldom give a full 5 stars in reviews. Maybe Im picky, but what I do not like: is when you press the start button, it makes a sharp tack!! Noise! One would think something just broke!!! I do not like that at all!
But machine washes just fine, with presets etc. Low operating noise!
Happy in general terms, big improvement with my previous F&P.
Just that loud "tack"noise!
Dont see the point of that.
For blind people maybe? No.

It’s kinder on the clothes as there is no agitator which I was hesitant about at first but it’s a good thing. Always had fluff on my clothes from previous machine but no problems now. If it lasts as long as my previous machine (22 years) I will be very very happy! So it was a good purchase and would recommend it.

Another Great Product

What a great 8kg washing macine.

On filling the machine with our dirty clothes from our recent trip away, we were anxious to see how good it was, the controls making wash selction so easy, well wow our clothes came out so clean looking like new.
It a very quiet machine you can hardly hear it working, wonderful, and we recomend this machine to all.

Nice machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like everything about this washing machine, except....the residue of washing powder, washing sheets or liquid that I find on my clothes thereafter. It is obviously more noticeable on dark clothing but I'm sure its on all my clothes. It's annoying to have to dilute prior to washing. This machine doesn't have an agitator in middle like my old one, that could be the problem as it never happened with my old machine. Otherwise, its ok.

Happy with extra room inside tub
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This top loader does not tie up the clothes and linen as much as previous washers we have used. The two lint collectors take getting used to as you must use two fingers to press and hold the catches to disengage from tub. Once clear, the lint is easily removed from the collectors. Time to wash is longer than expected - usually 1hr16min for mixed load, and regularly longer than the originally displayed wash time (extra 5 to 10mins)

Love my new F&P Washing Machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my new F&P washing machine, simple to use, lint filters easy to reach and clean out, love the timer count down on it so I know I only have a few minutes to wait before I head off to work. Its very quiet and I find our clothes are spun really well with no excess water, so drying time on the line doesn't take as long as it used to. Great size, overall size smaller than my old machine and with no agitator, bowl size works well.

It doesn't have those long agitators making it kinder on clothes but still delivers a great wash. There’s lots of cycles to choose from depending on what you’re washing, and build quality feels solid. What I like most is the practical usability. It's just simple, intuitive and just gets the job done without fuss. Finally, it's the quietest machine I've owned.

Spacious & easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Am enjoying this machine. Overall very happy with it. Was easy enough to install & set up ourselves. This is the first top loader I have used with no agitator, and it is so much easier to load & unload. Washing performance has been good. Occasionally there are residue marks left on dark clothing, even with using liquid detergent. I realised this was happening when the water level was set to Auto, as though it wasn't using enough water to rinse thoroughly. I have found that selecting an appropriate water level gives better results. The filters are easy to remove & empty. I have made it a habit to do this after every cycle. Good selection of cycles available to choose from, and options to customise. I like that the machine powers off once the cycle has finished.

I bought this machine January 26 & wish I'd read the reviews first. My previous machine was a top loader F&P also & I loved it. This new machine isn't as good. There is always linting on clothes..even after 2 items been thru a second rinse & spin. I've used drum cleaner & liquid clothes wash. Another thing that bugs me is the length of the rinse & spin cycles as well as wash cycles my last machine was quicker & more efficient . Definitely give this a thumbs down.

What I honestly think about this washing machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very pleased with my new F&P washing machine. Smaller profile than my old 8kg and a lovely sleek feel and look. Does a great job and handles sheets and other lrg items well. There is a sharp locking noise when it first starts, but then runs quietly. The controls are simple and easy to adjust and the timer display is really helpful. I haven't used its WiFi features, though I can see how they'd be handy for some.

Excellent little machine

The overall outside size of the machine is smaller than the older models but the drum still takes the same size load. I don't like the lid lock for the entire wash, the washing powder hole is messy & the wash cycles are longer than the old machines were. But over all, its a great machine and I would recommend it!

Eg quick wash does not take 27 minutes but almost an hour and mixed cycle not 57 minutes but 2 hours. Another problem is that everything comes out very creased, despite my using slower spin rate. I now have to iron things I have never ironed before. Worse, my favourite Liberty cotton shirt came out shredded.

A Brand I Know and Trust
I enjoy using this washing machine with it's easy control panel and my clothes come out clean (unlike some reviews I've read). Love not having the centre agitator making more room for clothes, and the lint collection is an added function that is great. My only criticism would be the lid locking from the beginning of the wash cycle, would be better to only lock during the spin cycles like my old machine. Even so I'd still recommend this product.

A great machine, but…
Having just retired out last Fand P washer after 20+ years of reliable service, we are very happy with the new variant, except perhaps for the needless requirement to have to use the app and wifi connectivity for a few of the cycles. Really!?! A rotary cycle selector should be able to manage all of the necessary cycles and an appropriate use of the delay function should easily negate any requirement for a washing machine to be internet capable.

18 years service from one machine - beat that
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There are many great features on this machine - the lint trap gathers the fluff from the clothes, the handles on the side are great when shifting and the wash cycles do an incredible job with great versatility. I like that it is 8 kg like my old machine but is slimmer and deeper so takes up less room in the laundry My previous machine was a Fischer & Paykel that I had for 18 years so I didn't look at any other brand. It still washed the clothes but did not pick up the fabric softener. There are two features I would change - the serial number should be displayed on the front of the machine, maybe inside the lid for completing warranty or calling for service and I would prefer not to have a soft close lid. We all lead busy lives and want to get on with the wash not wait for the lid to close

I preferred my old Fisher & Paykel washing machine
I have always had Fisher & Paykel washing machines. Unfortunately this one doesn't allow for drip drying clothes as even when you "hold" the spin, it drains so hard that the clothes are not wet enough to drip dry. If you want to take them out dripping you have to interrupt the cycle and hope you have stopped it at the right time. The fast spin leaves clothes very wrinkled, but the mid speed spin leaves them so damp they take forever to dry.

Loving Fisher & Paykel

Obviously after 16 years styles have changed and controls are different but it took me no time to work it out. Frustrating
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having a Fisher and Paykel washing machine for the last 20 years, I never hesitated to purchase another one 4 weeks ago. However, I am disappointed in the results. Dark clothes seem to come out dirtier than they went in and I have to rinse them myself. The spin cycle is too long. My clothes also come out feeling hard. We aim to dispatch orders within 2 days. Delivery costs are calculated based on your location and the size of your order. Furniture may take up to 8 weeks to deliver as most products are made specifically for your order. Some Customer Direct products are shipped from overseas and may take longer to arrive. Some goods may take longer to deliver if a product is currently not in stock. A staff member will contact you where this occurs.
Easy returns
If you feel your product has failed a Consumer Guarantee (as defined by New Zealand Consumer Law) then don't worry you can easily return it to your local Harvey Norman store. We'll even pay for the postage if you live in an area where there is no store. Our returns policy covers any purchased item ( conditions apply).

Does the F & P washing machine WL8058G1 have a soak function?
Thanks for your question Mike. Yes, we can confirm this model has a Soak function as a wash modifier. It will perform a one hour soak sequence in the middle of the wash phase, agitating periodically every minute to help remove loosened dirt and stains. Hope this helps!
