The first lens to buy for the EOS RF system
The RF 35 1.8 IS STM is a compact, fast, lightweight and sharp wide angle prime lens for the mirrorless EOS R system from canon and lives basically bolted to my R6 mark II. The lens is perfectly suited to every day shooting, fast enough for night time photography and compact enough to be carried around every day. It is well priced and much smaller than the competing L series lenses and I think the out of focus rendering is much more pleasing than the (cheaper) RF 50mm 1.8 STM. The inclusion of a lens hood and weather sealing however would make this product better.
This should be the first lens you buy for your new camera!

Low cost, versatile, outstanding
I bought this lens for my secondary Media students in Melbourne Australia. We have a range of Canon RF bodies and this cover various scenarios in which my students would be able to take advantage of this lens's features. It is small, lightweight, relatively inexpensive, has stabilisation and macro features - that covers a lot of cool abilities that my students use. The macro ability of this lens is very solid and given that many students don't want photos taken of themselves, they often use this lens for macro shooting plants, bugs and other obscurities. I personally own a lot of L glass, but this is a far better option for secondary students with its compact design and light weight. Well done Canon, I have ordered the 24mm 1.8 macro for them as well.

Excellent Prime lens
I bought this instead of the kit lens with my R8. I don't regret the choice this is an excellent lens that has performed flawlessly. The Image stabilization has been excellent for video recording on the R8. I can't fault it, for a beginner in photography this lens provides excellent versatility and good image quality. It has enabled me to take some priceless photos of my family. I believe it is a must have in any beginner photographer's kit.

so much light
this lens is awesome. I can take nice night aviation photos and the af snaps onto the plane so we'll capturing the beams from the planes bright lights while still getting high levels of detail on the fuselage. Love it!

Super Sharp!
I bought this lens around 2 years ago now and it is my go to lens for anything I’m shooting. Portraits, engagement shoots, weddings, I use it for everything and would say it is a must have in any photographers bag!
