Nostalgic dopamine hit
I learned to film with super8, the film was expensive, the editing was difficult and destructive, but i loved it all the same. This camera is terrific teaching tool for my kids, they learn a little filming discipline, a starting point for framing and coverage that are far more important than getting mired into focus, exposure and lensing.
If it was to go again, I'd like an optical zoom, i'd like to be able to put audio in, i'd like to use the shoe on top to mount a light maybe. and If we're going to have the vintage settings, i'd like to hear a fake whir of film to know i'm shooting.
It's fun to use if you're 6 or 60

Could be better but still awesome as is
I love it, it's so fun and easy to use. I bring it on every adventure so my my phone isn't overloaded with all the videos I like to take, and it keeps me in the moment not being able to review anything until I get home to download it all. I do recommend switching out the SD card for something larger as soon as you get it so you don't have to worry about running out of space. There's 2 things that I think would make it even better: 1.) a lens cover, I'm always paranoid I'm gonna scratch it. 2.) the ability to lock the trigger while recording so I could pass the camera around to friends or flip it around to face myself without a break in the recording or having to maneuver my hand in a weird way.

Good and not so good
Honestly, very nostalgic and a cool item for memorializing events and gatherings. Would be nice to have a playback feature even if it was just in the eye viewing screen. Also, deleting videos and freeing up space from the unit itself would be a great feature. As it stands now, the only way to do that is by removing the SD card (which is a process in it of itself) hooky it up to a laptop or pc and then download the information. That’s a bit tedious if you ask me. Lastly, add a locking feature to the record button rather than always having to have your finger depressing the button. It seems to me these are very simple programming improvements that could be made rather quickly and affordable that would change the game for the Camp Snap camera.

This thing is great, but
This thing is great, but I can’t give it 5-Stars because you created a “Film” styled camera that shoots 30fps. A HUGE oversight in my opinion. The ease of use, the filters and aspect ratios are great and the zoom along with the wide angle lens and infinity focus is all great. But again, a film camera that shoots 30fps takes all these amazing features and trust it into lame looking videos. SO, some post-production work is needed if you want to Mae it look more like film!

it’s like a time machine
I grew up with my dad shooting super eight movies at home, and of course, watching them projected, of course without sound. I still have his super eight camera and carrying case proudly displayed in my home. I’m so excited to use this new camera and got it on pre-order, which was delivered last week! My only serious request, is when are you coming out with fun carrying cases? I want to protect it and take it places, but want a case worthy of at least what the real super eight case look like, maybe more compact? Maybe in a fun range of bright colors? Anyway, it really is like a Time Machine that takes you to the past, but keeps you very much in the present. Thank you!

Great camera. Very vintage vibes
Great camera. Very vintage vibes echoing from the 60s & 70s. Quite happy with the performance, plus it’s just absolutely fun to use. I added a lens cap (any 56mm push-on cap will do) and a real cold shoe for a video light. Adding a light opens up many new opportunities for more inside filming. Good job Camp Snap for bringing us this camera! 5 stars *****

I am still working through
I am still working through testing out the camera. I like how quickly it records files and how each file is easily distinguishable from another one when I load into my computer. However, the internal microphone is either poorly placed or overly sensitive. I can hear my own breathing when I’m recording footage and that makes it somewhat unnerving to use. I think the microphone ought to be either dialed down a notch have something placed over top of the input so that it muffles sound a little bit or simply just relocated

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a photographer, I loved using the CS-8 digital video camera alongside my recent gender reveal shoot. The super 8 design gives it a unique, retro feel, while the screen free experience encourages you to stay present and enjoy the moment rather than constantly checking footage.
I also love that it comes with a built in memory card with an option to add another. As well as the fact that it’s so simple to connect to the laptop.
It’s lightweight, fun to use and creates a real sense of anticipation when reviewing your clips later. Perfect for capturing memories with a nostalgic twist.
