Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor holder doesn't hold larger veg It's a very sharp and clean cut, but the holder is near-useless - it doesn't work on larger items such as large onions. The result was I managed to skin my thumb the first time I tried it with an onion. (Lightly enough that I wasn't injured too badly and after a week it was OK). I was tempted to return it, but it comes in a blister pack that you have to cut and tear apart, so I had no packaging left to return after opening. It also doesn't do dicing, unlike my existing Borner v-slicer. But it hangs up very neatly out of the way (unlike the v-slicer, which is a nuisance to store, which is why I got this device). It's quite cheap for a JJ product though, which is good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Danger I tried this gadget for the first time last night to slice carrots. Unfortunately it also sliced part of my finger. It is still bleeding 14 hours later so now contemplating a trip to A&E. I know I should have been more careful but PLEASE put a warning with this gadget about how sharp the blade is and to take extra care when using.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality as expected Easy to hold, & alot easier to clean than a traditional Mandoline Using the pincher tools makes it safer but just have to get the positioning right Some things easier to grip than others Ideal for potatoes & salads etc carrots courgettes Closes so blade not exposed & fits in cupboard or draw no bigger than a cheese grater

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Confusing but good A bit confusing at first. Thought part of the design was the packaging. Take a while to understand the settings and guard option today. I’ve not had a mandolin before so maybe it was that. But really fast and efficient with the cutting and cleaning a doddle too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent mandoline This makes slicing carrots, cabbage, cucumbers really easy. It is comfortable to use and the plastic holder means you can get close to the end of the vegetables without worrying about slicing the end of your fingers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sturdy but not good to Sturdy but not good to clean. No screws to enable sharpening . Not good for my softer cheeses. Good for harder veg and better than my last mandoline.
