Great while it lasts...
Despite loving the look and usefulness of this bin we have been really disappointed with its shelf life. Unfortunately since first getting this bin in 2020 we've had 2 replacements and now the 2nd replacement has also broken. Josephjoseph were great with their customer service and said they were aware of the issue- top bin lid kept breaking at spring but it has clearly been a problem on all 3 bins.
Our 3rd bin is now out of warranty and we can not justify spending the money on a further bin.
If you want a sleek looking bin with great functionality then this is brilliant, however if you want a long lasting bin, I certainly wouldn't part with your money and choose this. A real shame.

Does the job, but not as good as older version.
Bought this to replace original 48ltr Joseph Joseph totem bin after the lid button broke. We’d had that bin for around 8 years! Tried to get a replacement lid but no one stocks it anymore.
Have to say this one is not as good. Feels very flimsy and unstable compared to the last one. Despite this being 60ltr there is no more room for waste than before. It seems the extra space is in the recycling part. The lid is also much less secure than the last one. If there’s even the slightest bit of excess rubbish in the bin it keeps popping open, which is somewhat irritating.

Lid design flaw
Usually I like Joseph Joseph products but this bin has a serious flaw with the lid release. The lid stuck when I press the release button after a couple of months of use, need to press the button and actually open the lid by hand. There’s no dirt, nothing to cause the lid the stuck. I contacted customer service and got sent a replacement, which the same problem happen but after just a couple of weeks. I just give up asking for replacement again, feels very wasteful even if they would send me replacement again for free.

A close second to the old model
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the previous model which we loved and this comes a close second. The bins are a better shape so you don’t have to struggle to put a bin liner in. The food bin is in a better position, so you can put more items in the bin without the bottom of the food bin getting too dirty.
The only issue and this is an OCD one, the bottom bin doesn’t sit flush with the top bin as it did with the old model. I think it might be to allow more air to circulate.

Poor Design
We have had the bin replaced three times now due to the spring lid mechanism breaking. Once the three year guarantee expires, the manufacturers will no longer replace the bin. I can only say that Joseph Joseph design for this product is poor and considering the price of the product, I don't think it is worth it. Take my advice and buy a bin from another manufacturer who know how to design and do not try to worm out of the guarantee like Joseph Joseph did with me.

Product I now can't contemplate life without - delivered seamlessly
This was a second purchase of a JJ Totem bin. The price is crazy but I could not now live without the life enhancing design of this bin. No-one else puts 2 recycling bins and a food waste caddy in one neat stack.
The design has changed a bit with the tower both bins previously lived in now replaced by a sort of stand. The lower bin is therefore not as enclosed as on the earlier model, but does slide out more freely. The lid is slightly convex plastic instead of flat stainless steel- maybe easier to keep clean, but the curve is inexplicable and not as good looking. The catch feels less robust than previously- so will jave to handle that carefully.
The dividers that used to be provided are no longer supplied, but clip points under the rim of the bottom bin allow two separate bags to be used in that one.
Overall - still pricey but still worth it!

Totem Max 60L Waste and Recycling Bin
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Delighted with this purchase. I wanted to store recyclables as well as usual household waste and this bin fulfils both purposes admirably. I live in a flat with limited storage space and I purchased the 60L size bin so as to be sure that it would hold all recyclable waste in one space. The bin is well made and the Stone colour is modern, yet neutral and fits well with my kitchen decor.

The bin is good however
The bin is good however the lid to the food bin is small and it can easily be lost in the black bin zone which obviously not great it need a “keeper” to avoid this problem. Also the handle to this small bin isn’t great to pick up.
Bin is doing its job - compact waste storage pre disposal for our smaller kitchens which are not designed for recycling but there are refinements that would improve the product
