Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy new formula PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA!!! I originally heard about this cleanser from my dermatologist and loved it. I saw the bottle/packaging changed, but didn’t realize the ingredients were different. The new “cleaning cream” is sticky and leaves a film on my face. I neede to use another cleanser (CeraVe) to remove the film. Maybe it’s the xantham gum in the new formula (it wasn’t in the old formula) that leaves the film. I suspect they changed the formula because they are trying to mass market the product and this formulation is cheaper and easier to make. Also, ithe old formulation smelled lovely the new one smells awful. I had just recommended it to two people and should have tried the new one first. Now Avene has two sales that aren’t deserved. I won’t buy again.

Avene recently reformulated this product and, unfortunately, it is now no longer a premier product like it used to be. Even my dermatologist no longer recommends this product which originally helped clear my dermatitis and skin rashes on delicate skin. The formula now has alcohol & cornstarch, feels very cheap, and does not sooth in the way it used to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE REFORMULATION SO SAD THEY REFORMULATED!!! This has been my favorite cleanser for 9 years straight, I just got the new “more hydrating” formula in and it is horrible! The consistency is not as luxurious as before, and it has a strong soapy smell, strips the skin dry, and my skin immediately broke out in hives before I could even wash it off of my face. Avene PLEASE go back to the original formula!! It literally saved my acne/rosacea skin and it was absolutely perfect before.

Creamy but lightweight and with a pleasant herbal scent, it did a great job of cleansing my skin without stripping it. My dermatologist first recommended it to me & I happily used it for a decade. And then, for some unknown reason, Avene decided perfection wasn’t good enough. They tinkered with not just the packaging but the formula, touting it as “new & improved”. But what they really did was ruin one of their best products. The heavily chemical smell would be almost tolerable if the texture wasn’t greasy, cloying, & hard to rinse off. But once you DO manage to get it off your face, you find that it’s taken all traces of moisture with it. I used it for a week & my skin aged a decade. I cannot express how disappointed I am & I’ve already begun buying their competitors’ products instead. Avene, you really screwed the pooch on this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined The old formula was an absolute miracle for my skin. Red dry patches disappeared, skin overall texture improved. However, the new formula is completely different. Corn starch??? Come on Avene, what where you thinking? I will be switching to another brand. Others have recommended Vanicream or La Roche Posay gentle cleansers which I will try next.

I old formula cleaned my skin without drying it out. The new formula isn’t cleansing & is leaving my face oily. I always buy in bulk & now I have 2 bottles of the new formula I can’t use.
