The chair back and footrest move independently.
Originally purchased for mobility reasons, these are by far, the best use of money for personal luxury. Worth every dollar. The tipping function extends so far that all you really have to do is walk away. The motor is also faster than other brand name chairs. They also come with removable armrest covers, and because of their size they fit nicely in my sitting room. Not to bulky. I bought two so my friends can feel special as well when they visit.
