only worked for a handful of uses
bought just over a year ago, but looks like something that holds the magnet for the frother has melted, rendering the machine unable to froth milk after only a handful of uses (was bought for frothing milk when travelling, so sat in the box most of its life).
Looking at other reviews here it is a known problem.
Will be interested to see how Breville handles the repair/replacement as it is out of warranty, but highlights that you should use a product extensively when first bought. And check the reviews. Hopefully this is sorted for future Frothers, as when it works it is great!

Luv that milk container can be separated from base
Purchased this as replacement of a milk frother been using for years that I’ve also replaced regular as it’s base couldn’t get wet however the whole machine needed to be taken to th try dunk to clean.
This machine is a game changer! I love that where you put the milk can easily be lifted off and taken to the sink to clean without worrying about any mechanical or electrical water damage occurring.
Froths plant based milk easily and quickly!
My only negative is that it a little noisy when it’s working.

Auto Milk Frother
Really like this little milk frother. I like that it is stainless steel and very easy to clean. It's easy to use. Remember, it's not instant, it takes a few minutes 2-3 to heat and froth the milk, or your hot chocolate drink, to the perfect temperature. My hot chocolate comes out frothy and beautifully mixed with a temperature of about 75 degrees C. I tested the temp with a thermometer after pouring the contents into a cold mug just to see what it was.

Poor product quality all round
After 3 days, I had the same experience as another review. The black plastic goo came out from under the plate all along the rim with smoke and burning smell.
If you are a latte lover avoid this product. Using the latte attachment and settings you end up with pure foam. It also heats the milk too hot.
We returned the product and I opted for Lavazza Milk Up Induction Frother which does a great job for a latte producing milk that has a good texture and temperature.

Lasted less than a week
Bought this machine to specifically make hot chocolates as I am pregnant. Only made maybe 6 hot chocolates when I got the burning smell. Stopped the machine straight away and left it to cool down. Looked fine so I tried again the next day only it will no longer turn the disk. Tried all troubleshooting ways from the manual but still does not work. Disappointed in Breville

Melting plastic on hotplate
Been using the product for a week and froths milk very well and at a nice hot temperature. One day I smelt burning plastic and spotted some melted plastic circling the hotplate. Probably a bad unit?
