If you like the toasties to brown just apply some butter on the outsides of the slices and you will get crispy toasties with gooey middles.

I have tried different breads, different amount of filling, adding butter and water to the edges to get a seal and nothing worked. I am in the market now for a better one

Doesn't quite seal the outside like my previous one or a jaffle iron. The non stick surface has just suddenly started sticking and has become unusable -no idea why. It's gone in the bin today and not sure if I will get another one.

Even if they do sometimes seep over the edges of the bread they are contained within the sandwich maker, which is very easy to clean and usually only needs a wipe with a soft damp cloth. Very happy with my purchase.

The previous one never missed a beat, but eventually required replacement as the plastic on the cord had deteriorated. We would have been devastated if this model were no longer available. Can’t recommend this sandwich maker highly enough.

The non-stick coating really works well and I don't need a turner to remove the toasted sandwich when it is done. The older model's non-stick coating didn't work well at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasties and so much more (actually just toasties) How have I never used one of these before? Absolutley life changing. Kids want a grilled cheese? Before the "Big One" entered my life I was stuck pulling out pans, and pre-heating them, and then making a big mess and giving the kid a sandwich, then cutting it, then finding out I cut it wrong. Ugh, what a mess. It became easier to just punt and make a PBJ. BUT NOW! No, sir. You WILL have a grilled cheese. It will take 4 minutes. It comes out ready to cut and it doesn't matter if I do it right or wrong, the kids are distracted by the magic toastie machine that somehow gobble up bread, butter and cheese and spits out a toastie. I got some enamel paint and mine look like a monster, no I won't post pictures. If you don't have one of these and you have kids, and you don't have a professional chef you're missing out on saving like 8-12 minutes a day. Cleans up easy, takes up storage in the cupboard, but who cares for the ability to smash four sandwiches at one time... I would build it a luxury cupboard with a sauna.
