Too Big - but still makes good pies
Wow why did sunbeam muck around with the size -- i had a 2 pie maker and using the store bough pastry i could cut 4 pies per sheet - now i have the new pie maker i get 1 and have to muck around with pastry a lot to get 4 pies -- thats a real negative -- also the pies a re now huge and my kids struggle to eat one causing more waste and they take longer to cook and longer to cool down - so in summary although a good pie maker and it does what they intend it to do it really is a lot of bother to make pies in this larger device compared to the older model -- Dear Mr Sunbeam please dotn muck with what worked really well and make them the smaller size as i doubt you will get the pastry makers to increase the size of their sheets.

Exceeded Expectations!
Exceeded expectations, it cooks pies so well. I tried a quick fruit pie with just a sheet of flaky pastry. The bottom piece is so large that I had to re-roll the remainder of the sheet to make a piece big enough for the top, this worked well. Filled the pie with stewed rhubarb and apple and cooked for 12 minutes. LOVED them. Pastry was crispy top and bottom.
A few days later, I defrosted a couple of commercial butter chicken pies and tried them in the pie maker, they came out much better than when heated in the oven and so much faster! The difference was that the bottom pastry was well cooked as well as the top, while cooking in the oven often leaves the bottom pastry a little under-cooked.
I look forward to experimenting with different fillings!

Do your reasearch first....
Yeah... just remembered why I ditched my last Pie maker... messy...it has a cutter and is deep dish, which is great in theory. In reality it is still messy- and forget the precut frozen squares,,,uses way to much because the pie maker is so much deeper. If you buy one, be prepared to buy the blocks and get two blocks per four pies with left overs. Be aware flakey and puff can not be rekneaded well... Kind of regretting my purchase now.Also, the pastry shrinks and doesnt stay where it should...Some savings on power, but seriously not sure it it's worth the pain..If I was to do it again, I would'nt.

Not as good as the previous snack size 4 pie magic
After getting one of your 2 snack pie makers in early 2000 as a house warming gift we fell in love. Leftovers became delicacies with this fantastic piece of kitchen equipment. After upgrading to the black magic 4 pie maker many a Monday night (any night really!) has been a quick and easy meal transforming anything in the fridge and pantry into a real treat.
Sadly our 4 pie maker magic stopped heating one cold morning and off we went to get the replacement. Unfortunately this version isn't as good as our old round black one - the one we have bought for many of our friends and family.
This new one has improved with the plate being easier to clean however the pie size is too big. It doesn't work with the pastry sheets leaving lots of waste.
The cutter makes it hard to make use all of the sheet as you can't see where the smaller side cuts. The lines are also too deep often resulting in a whole in the base for the filling to escape.
Tonight what would have made 8-10 pies barely filled 4 and the size means the base is floppy not like the ideal size of the last lot. I'm desperately hoping I can find one of the old ones to replace this one.

I wish I could get my money back
Recently purchased the sunbeam magic pie maker as I had the original 4 pie maker and I used it all the time until sadly It just wore out. So excited to make yummy home made pies again, how disappointing such a waste of pastry I could not get 2 rounds for the pie bottom out of one sheet of pastry! this was never the case with the original pie maker then trying to fit the bottom in too many folds of pastry resulting in raw pastry on the inside I had to cook my pies twice and they were still raw. Please explain Sunbeam!??

Solid sturdy pie maker. It definitely isn't like the cheap ones that some shops advertise at Christmas. Looks like it will last. Have already made lovely pies with it :)

Is there a recipe book for the 4 up pie magic?
Hi there. There is no recipe book included in the box, but there is a free Pie maker recipe book that you can download from the Sunbeam website. Hope this helps
