Bought a red set several years ago. Loved them but the red started coming off and they looked snd felt gross. ( they’re now on our motorhome with most of the red removed and look ok and still work)
We replaced with another brand and after about a year, my husband dropped one and the plastic broke making it useless. ( was hard to change settings anyway)
Bought another brand. This one locked tight and broke when I tried to refill. The batteries lasted longer than this one did. :(.
Now have bought another set of Russel Hobbs, they look great and it’s so good to go back to a brand that’ll last!!
So nice to use.

Make good static ornaments.
I bought this set on a heavy discount some time ago. Now, after sporadic use, I reckon I wasted my money. I can't now refill them as the markings have become somewhat indistinct, and whatever line-up I make of the twists & turns I can't find the magic combination; (I even tried to say "open sesame". Nope.) My long-held perception of RH engineering design (Kettles especially) is not favorable. This RH item definitely not recommended, unless you want a couple of useless shiny ornaments decorating the kitchen or pantry. Maybe someone got lucky with them.

Not worth the money
Absolute rubbish , had two sets of these over the past three years and they fail in the same place . Hard to get the bottom reattached when refilling , and eventually the whole metal case starts spinning , making them fit for the bin. . Not cheap at the price for something that is badly engineered.

Easy to use
I bought my salt & pepper mills 7 years ago. They are still working just as good as the first day that I bought them. Battery life is excellent too. Russell Hobbs name is almost worn off from all the use.

Struggles grinding even with new batteries
The mill constantly struggles with Black Pepper , salt is a bit better but still it's worth going for a manual one looking at the performance.

Well Made - but one major flaw
Everything about this set is superb, but what mentally challenged designer decided to put the black markings on clear plastic for the pepper grinder. Black on the white salt line - perfect. Black on a clear container filled with BLACK pepper????

How to change light in base?
Hi David, the light in the base of the mills are not user changeable or adjustable. The LED light is built into each mill. It automatically turns on when you press the top button to grind. There is no switch, colour change option, or brightness adjustment.
