Will this dehydrate meals? For example vegetarian pasta sauce (no oil)?

Thanks for your question. You won't be able to dehydrate combined meals, as times are affected by factors such as contents and wetness. You can dehydrate individual parts of a cooked meal, before combining. There is no specific setting for this on the unit, so this may be trial and error with a non-chunky sauce. Hope this helps! ^CO

Curious about the drying times - say for tomato's start to finish?

Great question Paula. Drying times can be found in the instructions included with the unit. For Tomatoes, it takes approximately 6 hours at 45°C setting to dry, based on 2cm thick wedges. There are also other options depending on suggested use. Trust this helps!

should the dehydrator exterior become hot?

Thanks for your question Cheryl. We can confirm yes, the exterior of the Dehydrator does tend to get heated. We recommend, do not move or cover the dehydrator while in operation. Use your dehydrator well away from walls, curtains and cupboards. Trust this helps!
