It's adequate if you don't use thick and heavy pots/pans, or else it'll struggle to get the temperature up. Also the entire unit get's quite hot (so also the outside), which wastes a lot of the heat but is to be expected if you use metal all the way.
Looks pretty stylish though, overall quite happy

Great wee stovetop
Bought this to replace a two ring gas stovetop in our holiday house…. Very impressed with how quickly it heated a pot of water to a boil… will be great - the only thing to watch is that it’s not put on a wooden bench as it does get a little warm

leeks Insulation
I got my Westinghouse hotplate replaced under warrantee because it was leaking grey insulation powder around the hobs. Unfortunately the new one also leaks insulation. If you buy this product do not turn it upside down or shake it around. I would imagine it could become quite dangerous.

Excellent little unit
I purchased this to get us through while our gas hob had a gas leak. It was a great little unit, did a stir-fry nice and hot! Now we have a back up for when the gas bottle runs out.

What is the best surface for this ?
Hi Lisa, it is highly recommended to place the cooktop on an open benchtop with good airflow around it. The best benchtop materials are stone (granite, marble, quartz), stainless steel, ceramic or porcelain tiles, and engineered stone.

Is it safe to put on top of a microwave or will it get too hot?
