Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Resourceful Cutie ! Has served it's purpose in my house as ideally suitable if you have difficulty with lifting the weight (when filled) of a normal 1.8L sized kettle. No bells & whistles, but is cord-free and boils quickly (with auto switch-off, no light) and a simple mini-classic Russell Hobbs' design - which I personally appreciate because shopping for this type of product doesn't bring up many other choices. I haven't given 5-star on value - purely because they retail normally at quite a high price for a smaller size (go figure?!) .. but this happy purchaser happened to come by it at Harvey Norman on sale much less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable. Sick of kettles leaking or the boil tab not latching within 6 months! This one is very, very basic but so far, reliable. No sight glass to leak from. Boils fast, twice the warrantee period vs. the other brands. (From my experience life expectancy is the warrantee period!)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bits of plastic disappoint I would not purchase this brand of kettle again, as 6 months after purchase I'm still finding bits of black plastic coming from somewhere inside kettle and sticking to the insides even after repeated cleaning and following initial set up directions.Have taken it back and purchased another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Compact 1L Kettle, seems to have failed I like the small size and flat interior floor but the first one only lasted perhaps 3 years and the last one not even 1 year. It's just one person using this perhaps once a day. The first worked throughout but started making loud uncomfortable noises. The second now won't reach boiling temperature and makes different weird noises. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with the bonding technology between the cast aluminium-encased heating element and the stainless steel vessel. It sounds (literally) like it delaminates. My next one will use a normal tubular heating element, a design that has proven reliable. I just noticed what appears to be a tiny hole in the middle and took a photo.

How noisy is it when operating. Some cordless jugs we have had you have to turn the tv up to hear above the noise

Great question. This sadly isn't something that's measured. Most electric kettles are quieter than the older whistle style with many modern units running between 79dB and 95dB, and will be their most loud when boiling the maximum amount of cold water. Kettle position relative to TV placement could also be a factor. Hope this provides some clarity! ^CO
