A bit more than a bit more!
Breville, you’ve done it again! After unboxing this luscious, sleek, four sliced beauty, I could not wait to push its buttons and see the results. As per design it produced a beautiful golden crumpet of happiness, only made sweeter by the addition of drizzle of honey. But wait, there’s more!! A bit more!!! Upon the second round , it reached the toasting crescendo, just when you think you can’t take anymore, you can hit the bit more button, for even further golden crumpet pleasure. I have only deducted one star because like a good lover it should not smoke at the end, but am willing to overlook this early stage habit for the results it produces.

Guaranteed uneven toasting and burnt on every slice!
This toaster is worse than our old one we throw out due to uneven toasting. From day 1 no matter what brown setting it always burns your toast on one quarter. Very disappointing.Not recommended. We will return after lockdown and able to access shops.

YOU HAD ONE JOB, TOASTER
This thing operates outside of all laws of science and nature. If you enjoy your toast with black burnt crusts, or with nice brown crusts and never having graduated from bread in the centre, then this is the toaster for you! And forget trying to use this toaster twice in a row. This morning, 4 slices underdone, next 2 burnt on the same setting! Chucked them out and tried again with the setting dialled down. Burnt again! Unbelievable. Admitted defeat and sat down to my (unevenly) charred toast. Only got this toaster in April 2020 but don't think it'll see out the year.

Maybe 3rd time lucky
I have bought two of these toasters in the past 2 years. Both of them failed within a year. The lever would not stay down. I am an operating theatre nurse and am very careful with my appliances and keep them clean. This approach did not work with these toasters. I have just thrown the 2nd one in the bin as I no longer have the receipt for either. Today I just bought a 3rd Breville toaster (the lift and look pro). I hope it will be better because I love the Breville Brand. I wish I had kept the receipts for the others so that as others have done I could have returned them for new ones.

burnt ends
I bought this a few days ago and immediately found out it was a dud. Both the top and bottom of the toast burnt while the rest remained uncooked except for one side out of the four sides which was quite nicely done. I tried experimenting using two slices only and changed position of the slices in the slots but it had the same effect.

worst toaster ever
I have had this toaster 3 times (replaced twice under warranty). It is a dud. Do not buy it. The toast burns no matter what setting. The spring mechanism waa faulty on all 3 toasters. Not happy.

JUST DON'T
Firstly, a disclosure, I am a Breville fan. I have many of their quality kitchen appliances and am a very satisfied Breville customer so it was a no brainer when needing to shop for a toaster. But... I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this toaster, I ended up returning for a refund. This toaster WILL burn your crusts! No matter what bread you use or what settings you frustratingly try to adjust to, it will leave the inside of your toast uncooked and the crust fried beyond recognition. Your house WILL smell like burnt toast. The defrost option is just another opportunity to burn your bread. Do yourself a favour and buy anything other than this. I ended up reverting to a single slice 750 watt cheapie and I couldn't be happier. Slow and low, all the way!

Buy a cheap one instead
Never again. I had hoped for a toaster that could toast bread evenly and quickly. This toaster does neither. There are cold spots randomly dispersed on all 4 elements. Toast is burnt in patches and raw in others. The inner element toasts faster than the outer ones. Bead toasts more on one side and less on the other. This is a very poor quality product. It doesn't deserve a 1 star rating.
