Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mopping is no longer a chore! Excellent machine that makes the chore of mopping more easy, less time consuming and effective. I've read a lot of reviews, both positive and negative, and had lots of second thoughts when buying this machine. I'm glad I did because it has made life a lot more simpler. I haven't faced the same problems as others have highlighted. I do quickly vacuum the floor before mopping so the machine has a lot less debris to pick up. My minor feedbacks would be 1) the low-foam cleanser in the videos are not available in NZ and Dyson offers no alternatives, 2) the loud clicking sound when changing the mop from upright to leaning. Overall, excellent mop!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but feels like a prototype CONs: Has a tacky plastic ‘click’ when you first tilt back the handle and the cleaning/collection tray is constantly coming off. PROs: I’ve owned this for a few weeks now and have mopped up loads more than normal. It’s easy to use and makes mopping much more fun! I particularly love the way it vacuums up and mops at the same time, saving me from vacuuming and then mopping. Great that it’s chemical free too. It does have a high price tag but the innovative self cleaning facility, cordless ability and long mop time are great. I also like the fact that it uses clean water and not dirty like a traditional mop and bucket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It does what it intends to do but…. Being a long time Dyson customer I was truly excited for wash g1 to release. I purchased without thought as I can’t say I love mopping floors so figured this machine would be a great help. I will start by saying that yes the machine actually cleans the floors really well, when you see the dirty water you know it’s worth it however the machine is heavier than expected, unfortunately you are not allowed to put any time of cleaning solution in the tank with water and the cleaning process of the machine is tedious. As this is the first one on the market for Dyson I am sure they will improve in the models to come. I just wish I didn’t pay full price for this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cleans exceptionally well! Bought recently and can honestly say I was embarrassed by the colour of the water after the first clean. There is only two of us in the house, no pets and we don’t wear shoes anywhere in the house. We have Karndean flooring and it makes a great job of it. The only downside for us is how much it foams if using a cleaning fluid. We like to use the proper Karndean solution but even reducing that to 5ml if we go above 1 it just foams and we have to keep stopping and cleaning the rollers out. It is quick and easy to use other than that and how well it cleans is 5 ⭐ It lives up to our expectations just like our other Dyson appliances.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says....and does well.... Xmas gift from family. I will say it does clean very well ONCE you have removed all residue from the floor. Our prior wet jet based system built-up cleaner residue over the years, causing G-Wash to suds repeatedly and make for a frequent, unpleasant empty tray/roller clean routine. Since those episodes it does clean very well with water, dries quickly, and the floors look great afterward. The self clean is a bit tricky to learn however works well to keep rollers clean. I do recommend Dyson upgrade the plasticky sounding "handle to cleaner lock" mechanism as the initial pivot sounds cheap and causes one to wonder how long it will hold up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the high price tag. I want to love this product but unfortunately, I do not. While it cleans the floors reasonably well, it does not effectively “separate” dry debris from wet. When emptying the tray that collects the dry debris you are faced with a wet gunk of a mess, and cleaning up the G1 after the so-called self clean cycle is more of a chore than actually vacuuming and mopping (I normally use my cordless Dyson and a steam mop to mop). Dog fur and other debris gets stuck in the foam rollers making cleaning the product after cleaning your home more of a chore than is necessary. I’m very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So many warnings within 2 short uses! My Dyson G1 cleaned really well the first time I used it for 30 minutes! It took a lot of surface dirt away and I was really pleased with my purchase. But then, I used it for another 30 minutes a few days later and all I got was clean out and rinse the debris tray warnings and empty the dirty water tank warnings repeatedly. I emptied both many times over even though both were either fully clean or nearly clean and my G1 kept coming back with the same requests for assistance. I have since read, online, of many other users with the same problems so realise my G1 fails could be unavoidable for all buyers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but reassuringly does an outstanding job Purchased this item just after Xmas and had quickly become the best purchase we have made in 2024. It is very simple to set up and use and even simpler to clean post wash. We have always used an electric steam mop on our hard floors but reality is they really don’t lift the dirt from the floor and just move it around a lot and this became obvious with the colour of the water in the Dyson after 2 consecutive washes. It is a very expensive item compared to most of the competition but having already spent a few hundred pounds on two steam mops we decided to go with the pricier option and just wish we had done so in first place!!

does the dyson g1 floor cleaner vacuum and wash in the one movement? also i am a professional cleaner and want to know if it can be used safely for a sealed concrete floor in my clients dining room. will it affect the clear gloss sealant?

Thanks for your question Mesa. It vacuums and washes in one movement but uses a very small container, so you will need to monitor. Dyson advise it's fine for sealed flooring and recommend contacting the floor manufacturer to be sure, as not all cleaning substances are suitable. ^CO

Is this safe in a concrete floor

Thanks for your question. This hard floor cleaner is ideal for tiles, vinyl, laminate and sealed wooden floors in your kitchen, dining area, bathrooms and hallways. This is not suitable for concrete. Hope this helps!
