Feel's Cheap, Tacky & Fragile
For the price it feels cheap, tacky, chunky and fragile tbh, although it is by no means cheap. Not a patch on the V7 we also have which is a sturdy machine.
They obviously cut manufacturing costs on the V8.
I could just not recommend it when there are cheaper and more robust machines out there. The buttons instead of a trigger is a major pain, now it's a two handed machine to start as the buttons on the top are nowhere near where your fingers are tbh. Suction is fine but on max mode it doesn't last at all, so I'd never use it in that mode either. Maybe it's a matter of getting used to it, maybe time will tell, but I doubt it.

Powerful, convenient cordless vacuum
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Gifted by Dyson. The Dyson V8 Cyclone is a powerful cordless vacuum that can be used upright or as a handheld. The modular format is so convenient, and the pieces are easy to change out. There are also three power levels, and the highest provides VERY strong suction. It works well for rugs, hardwood, and furniture, but there are a few drawbacks too. The front of the head is rounded and quite tall, so it doesn’t fit under some of my furniture. The plastic pieces like the mechanism to empty the debris chamber also feel kind of flimsy. I was afraid I was going to break it the first time I opened and closed it, but thankfully I didn’t!

Supercalafragalisticexpialidocious. It eats dust. I wouldn't wish to use it in a large house, but for a 2 bedroom apartment it is ideal. I'd have preferred more space for the dust canister, as this quickly fills up. However it's a cinch to empty. The additional new power and the new charge is super dooper. It's light and easily stored. It's robust.
The set up was a doddle.
An old fashioned Henry is miles cheaper and does essentially the same job, however an old fashioned Henry is unwieldy and takes up a massive amount of space.

Impressive Little Machine
Had an old Dyson plugin bought a different brand cordless a few years back it was ok but didn’t replace the main device as it was not powerful enough and didn’t last too long before it broke.
Fast forward to 2026 and I gave the cordless another go.
This V8 was a great buy as was on offer, quick delivery and easy to unbox.
The suction is impressive and better than my old plugin and the hair pickup is very impressive.
I have a reasonably sized 2 bed and the battery just manages it on mid setting.
I like the stair attachment which is easy to use and works well.
So far I’m a big fan and it has replaced the plugin model.

Where has this been my entire life?

From the first use I am absolutely in love, it’s not as loud as your traditional vacuum- super light, thin and flexible enough to fit under couches and hard to reach areas, love the sleekness of it and the hour of charge time it provides! I could go on and on- easily the best vacuum I’ve ever owned. Also love how easy it is to clean up hair and it not get all tangled. Super easy to empty the bin with the point and shoot mechanism. Would absolutely recommend!

Good for me!
This is my 4/5th Dyson and the best one I think. I bought mine in the sale and used it on 2 carpets hoovered the day before with a Dyson ball (which had become too heavy for me to manoeuvre, I am 79 and suffer with Osteoarthritis) I emptied a ball of detritus about about 3cms across and this was on the Eco setting! It is the lightest vacuum I can find with the suction it produces. I live on my own so can't fit the battery charger - I charge mine direct from the mains via the cable supplied. It's easy to empty although not as easy as my other Dyson stick cleaner (Dyson please note!) It is not as noisy as most other cleaners, and, yes I would recommend the Dyson Cyclone.

Ideal For My Beach House
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Maybe it’s a bit much but I’m in heaven. I live in a beach town so the sand is a constant battle. Ad to the that I have a long haired dog so you can imagine how many tumble furs go in the spring/summer when he sheds his second coat. This complimentary from dyson was just what I needed. It gets everything so seamlessly is somehow strong, quiet and light. Usually it leaves me sore to vacuum and actually get everything but this makes it so easy to work with even unusual edges. I’m honestly never changing vacccumes again when I upgrade eventually I’ll just get the newest model of this one.

Fantastic suction
This thing is amazing, I am not impressed with the Dyson technology I have bought an airflow fan. Suction is amazing easy to empty it. Spins around movability is great. I’m not sure of the exact runtime because I managed to hoover with all the house without it running out. The thing I’m really impressed with is that there is a blade on the back which scrapes up even the smallest of dust I run a dog boarding premises and it doesn’t matter how much I hoover and mop the floor always feels Sandy. Not anymore, I couldn’t wait for my husband to come home from work and stroke the floor and say no sand. i’m now looking to invest in a handheld Dyson fan well worth the money
