Rated 2 out of 5 by from Waste of money I first bought the Arlo cameras but was disappointed I had to pay for a subscription. Then I bought the hub thinking it would do the same job as the subscription only to find out the hub isn't as good at retrieving the cameras footage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ARLO smarthub easily installed and works well Have had an arlo before. This smarthub was purchased on line, it arrived 2 days after the order was confirmed. I found it exceptionally easy to install and it picked up 3 cameras instantly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arlo smart hub Bought this because I had to to use an ultra 2 camera, wouldn't connect after a few trys had to reset the device and it hooked up after that. It's working fine, I haven't tried plugging in a usb for storage yet.

Hi I have Arlo Essential 1080p Outdoor Wireless Security Camera with Spotlight - 2 Pack Ive just gone over to fibre which is 5GHz I cannot get 2.4GHz needed to connect the 2 cameras (not an option with the Router I have) Will the Hub help in any way

Fantastic question TIm. Many routers broadcast Wi-Fi networks in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, unless it's a Mesh network which combines both. Ensure your phone is also connected to the same network frequency (if 2.4GHz is available, it will also need to connect to it before attempting). The VMB5000 Hub will help bridge the gap, but not this specific model. Have a chat with your ISP if not sure about your network frequency options.

I've got 2 Arlo Essential Spotlight external cameras, I see above they can connect to the SmartHub, but can i use it to store the recordings/alerts (rather than needing the cloud subscription). And can i access those recordings when away from the home ?

Hi there, thanks for your question. In order to access recordings this needs to be connected to the usb of the Arlo Smart hub a long with the same network this is connected to. This is the only way footage can be accessed, hope this helps!

At the moment I am on a 4g network, until I get my new fibre installed. Can the hub work off a 4g network? It says my 4 pro only works on a 2.7g network, so I cannot use it at the moment. But would using the hub help it work?

Thanks for your question Benny. The Arlo Smart hub isn’t used for 4G connection, it’s for extended battery life, wi-fi range and local storage.The only 4G product we range is the Arlo GO. Hope this helps with your query.

Will this hub connect to a pro 4 camera

Hi Ted774. Thanks for your question. The Pro 4 camera is compatible with the following Base station/Smart Hubs: VMB4500, 4000, 4540, 5000. This Hub will be compatible. Hope this helps.

Can I use the hub to record video and watch it on my phone without an Arlo subscription?

Thanks for your question. You need to plug a USB storage device to the hub in order to access data on your phone. Data can be viewed as long as phone is connected on the same network.
