Does this require a subscription service and does the hub have capability for a external hard-drive storage?

Hi, this does not require a subscription to operate—monitoring and alerts are available through the free Eufy Security app. Its included HomeBase 3 hub has 16GB of built-in storage and can be expanded up to 16TB using an external hard drive, allowing for extensive local video storage without relying on cloud services.

can you charge the cameras by usb and solar or are they solar only

Great question Tracey! Absolutely, if the camera is installed in a location that doesn't get enough sunlight, or you prefer to charge it indoors, you can use the provided USB-C cable and a 5V 1A charger to charge the battery. Trust this helps! ^CO
