Compact BBQ With Serious Flare-Up Issues
I really wanted to like this BBQ, as it seemed perfect for picnics and quick weekday meals. Unfortunately, it has some major design flaws that make it difficult to use. The biggest issue is flare-ups. Anytime you cook food with even a little fat, flare-ups are almost guaranteed unless the heat is set to the absolute minimum.
Low-and-slow cooking isn’t possible because the BBQ runs too hot—even at the lowest setting. When flare-ups happen, there’s no way to control them since the lid vents can’t be closed. The only option is to turn off the gas completely and wait for the flames to die down.
The problem comes from the compact design. The grill grate sits very close to the burners and the base, so any drippings instantly cause flare-ups. On one occasion, the flames got so bad that they damaged the enamel on the lid.
In theory, it’s a great concept for a portable BBQ, but in practice, the execution just doesn’t work.

Designer compact gas bbq
We bought this on our caravan trip as we free camp and needed a compact, portable gas bbq. The gas Cube is great for heat distribution, design and being square could fit in our compartment at the front of our caravan with ease. The only one that did. We used a frypan until we can purchase a hotplate for it. We are so happy with our purchase. Its perfect for a couple.
