Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Featured Excellent Value AV Receiver As an upgrade to my Denon AVR-3808 (2008 model) and home theatre installer of many Yamaha receivers I am so pleased with this purchase. I like the large volume control display readout which I set to off when not in use. Sound is surpurb. Net Radio works well though a bit slow. I'm running main zone 7.0 and Zone 2 Party Mode (stereo armchair speakers in main room). It inserted into my home theatre system easily. All my HDMI inputs go through my Sony 4k 65 inch TV so I've got no comment on the receivers HDMI inputs. I'm using the TVs optical output to the receiver. I then added it to my Harmony 650 remote control easily so it works seamlessly with my complete setup. Very Happy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A step backwards Ive had a number of Yamaha AMPs - this is the only one ive been disappointed with - Yamaha certainly made an effort to put distance between the RX series and the Aventage range, both in overall performance and price - if you have a previous gen amp - not worth the upgrade at all - still sounds great - but its a bit clunky to use - had mine for around 12 months and cant wait to replace it

Does this unit have the ability to send audio output to wireless speakers, regardless of the input device?

Hi Shane, it can send audio wirelessly to Bluetooth speakers/headphones and Yamaha MusicCast speakers, and this works with most input sources (HDMI, optical, analogue, and streaming apps). However, it is not completely input‑agnostic: some formats such as DSD, SACD, and certain multichannel HDMI signals cannot be sent wirelessly, and Bluetooth output is limited to stereo rather than full surround sound.

Thanks for your question Steve. Yes, it does have the ability to hardwire speakers. This will need to be done to operate the unit. The music cast feature for Wifi speakers is more for extra zones or Dolby Atmos set up. Trust this helps!
