Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Sound But Need Help With Using Magic Remote Just bought an LG OLED48B5PUA B5 TV and the LG S20a soundbar, and have connected the TV's eArc port to the soundbar with an HDMI cable. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set the TV settings to PROPERLY use the soundbar and so that I can control the soundbar settings (such as whether to use Cinema sound, sound tuning, etc) using the TV's Magic Remote (instead of using the little remote that came with the soundbar).

Our TV didn’t have the best sound quality on its own, but this soundbar has completely transformed the way we watch shows and movies. Rated 1 out of 5 by from I Regret Buying This Sound Bar This device has extremely limited connection options and worse yet is not very loud. Then if you want to use the App it REQUIRES you to create an LG account which means LG simply wants to ID your device so it can snoop on you and maximize profits selling your information to their so-called 3rd party affiliates (whoever they may be). You are even forced to agree to let them sell YOUR information. LG is just another intrusive corporate hack snooping people to line their pockets.

Have been very pleased with it so decided to get another for myself as an upgrade to an existing LG Smart TV. I bought an SQM1 soundbar for the older LG TV and was so impressed with that that I decided to get one for the new TV! No SQM1 in stock so bought the US20A ... just as impressed apart from the control for Bass, treble, etc. That's a bit fiddly but the sound quality is excellent! Really very happy!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been looking for a sound bar for when we have family movie nights, but not something crazy expensive and this is PERFECT! Install was super quick and easy and it’s so nice that it syncs to the TV remote so no need to have two remotes one for the TV and one for sound bar, it all goes through the TV which makes it easy to just have on all the time!! It won’t work when connected via the HDMI port, I have tried all the different settings on my tv and it doesn’t work, there is no optical port so that’s not an option unfortunately. I’m having to settle with connecting to my tv via Bluetooth, which does actually work quite well but isn’t ideal. The soundbar itself produces decent sound for the money but lacks bass as you would expect.

Hi, Erik. We understand your inquiry about the LG S20A soundbar and whether it includes an optical connection for audio input. Yes, the LG S20A Smart Soundbar does have an optical digital audio input port on the back of the unit. While the primary and recommended connection for the best sound quality and features with a TV is the HDMI ARC connection, the optical port is included as an alternative for connecting to devices, especially older TVs that may not have an HDMI ARC port. This gives you the flexibility to transmit your TV's audio to the soundbar using an optical cable. When connecting with this method, you would connect an optical cable from the OPTICAL OUT port on your TV to the OPTICAL IN terminal on the back of your soundbar.
