Fantastic Sound!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had the LG SC9S for around a week now and I’ve been putting it through it’s paces. Starting from the beginning, it arrived in quite a large box! There was a fair amount of excess cardboard in there to take up a lot of empty space around the various brackets included. Inside the box was the soundbar itself, the remote, the subwoofer, a replacement stand for your LG OLED with a flat base and extra height to ensure it stands above the soundbar, a wall mounting bracket for the soundbar, and two spacers.
The soundbar itself is beautiful. It’s relatively compact with a smooth top minus one round grill for the center, up-firing speaker. There are control buttons on the top-back of the soundbar. The included brackets are relatively plain and functional. The remote is of the typical, tapered LG style and is of cheap plastic. I’d like something a little nicer with a soundbar in this price range but it gets the job done.
As I currently have an LG C3 OLED, set up was a breeze. Plugging into the eARC port it was picked up automatically and just worked. The TV controls the volume so apart from setup and balance/mode adjustments I don’t need to touch the soundbar remote itself. Downloading the LG Soundbar app will also allow you to adjust these settings from the app. The soundbar visual interface consists of three lights in the front-center that change based on your input. Switching between modes triggers feedback via a pleasant voice. There is no visual settings mode and the included instructions are quite sparse. Luckily it’s fairly straight forward and I was done within a few minutes and didn’t’ have to look back.
The sound output from this sound bar is really fantastic. After trying out the various modes I think Standard works the best for me with all “speakers” set to the default and bass/woofer turned up to max. You get loud, clear mids and highs and super punchy base from the relatively compact subwoofer. I’ve watched quite a few movies and shows over the last week and I’m extremely happy with this soundbar and how it integrates with my OLED.

LG Soundbar SC9S Packs a Punch
Upon unboxing the LG SC9 soundbar what immediately stuck me was how well packed it was. It was easy to set up with just the single included HDMI cable, it was literally plug and play however the intructions took a bit to understand and it would have been good if an optical cable was also provided. Other than that I started enjoying high-quality sound in no time. The Bluetooth connectivity made it easy to pair with my phone, allowing me to stream music wirelessly without any hassle. The addition of the wireless subwoofer added depth to the sound, creating a more immersive experience. But what truly impressed me was the Dolby Atmos sound with upward-firing speakers that bounce sound off your walls, creating a surround sound cinema-like experience without the need for an expensive surround sound system. The LG SC9 soundbar fills the room with three-dimensional audio that makes movies and music come to life in a whole new way, plus LG's AI Sound Pro intelligently analyses and automatically adjusts the audio settings. The LG SC9S soundbar has taken my sound experience to another level and it provides a big improvment over regular TV speakers. Very impressed so far with the sound bar. The bar looks great and is very minimalist with just a few touch buttons on the top, the subwoofer being big can sit anywhere and it has powerful sound so would suit any room. The remote in my opinion is not a requirement as I can control the soundbar and settings on the LG Soundbar app.Love the sound coupled with the power of the wireless subwoofer results in dialogue, whether it be in movies, TV or games, being crisp and clear due to the dedicated center channel, with the wireless subwoofer delivering a powerful, deep bass. After using the LG Soundbar for a few weeks I can say that it has completely transformed my home entertainment experience. The sound quality is just incredible - rich, immersive, and utterly captivating. The clarity and depth of the audio together with the the bass coming out of the wireless subwoofer really adds to the depth and overall experience, be it watching movies, games or streaming music. Overall a great sounding bar and Highly recommended for anyone seeking a soundbar that truly elevates your entertainment .

Swapped Audio Optical for HDMI cable to fix sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the LG SC9S Soundbar and paired it with my 2020 LG 55" OLED TV, hoping to create an immersive and easy-to-use home theater system in our living room, where we daily watch Numerous shows from a variety of sources. I used an HDMI eARC connection directly from my three-year old LG OLED, downloaded the iPhone app and turned up the volume. LG includes an HDMI cable with the Soundbar. Set-up was fairly easy, especially using the app. I set the TV's audio output for HDMI eARC and started testing the new Soundbar. Using the HDMI cable, the audio results were muddled. While watching favorite streaming shows, the voices were often drowned out or made difficult to hear by background music and noises. Talk shows sounded great as did the news, but shows with music and sound effects create issues. There are eight different "Sound Effects", but none cleared up the audio issues. Two seem redundant "AI Sound Pro automatically optimize sound based on content type" sounds very much like like "Standard - Generally, the best sound is set to be heard". The translations could be clearer. I called LG consumer support to troubleshoot my sound issues and the support person was quite patient and helpful. I swapped out the HDMI, reset the Soundbar and tried different input sources, but no improvement to the muddling. It was suggested I try an Audio Optical cable and that fixed the problem, but seems like a step-back in technology. Thankfully I had an audio optical cable and connected it from the 2020 LG OLED to the Soundbar, changed the TV’s output to match that cable and the “muddled audio” issues disappeared! Not sure yet if I still get all of the benefits and features of the Soundbar (IMAX, Dolby Atmos) using Optical Audio, but I can now simultaneously play audio from the Soundbar AND the TV, for even more sound. I had hoped to place the speaker in front of my 2020 LG OLED, but doing so blocks the RF sensor, so the remote won't work. I therefore put it on a shelf above the TV and it looks nice there, blending into the shelf. I placed the subwoofer behind the set and it is nicely hidden, but the bass is still impressive. In conclusion, the sound is very impressive, I just wish the set-up had been smoother and that the recommended HDMI connection had been successful. At least now I have excellent sound from all sources and am ready for even greater performance when and if I upgrade to a new LG OLED evo.

Is the WOW Bracket enough?
I’ve had the LG Soundbar SC9 a few weeks. I’ve been fighting the urge to send it back since. It’s not awful, but don’t believe the hype. I’ve probably been spoilt by my other soundbar. By comparison, the LG Soundbar SC9 sounds tinny, lacks definition – especially with dialogue – and is inconsistent when switching streaming service apps. I was eager to try the soundbar as I have a 55" LG C2, and the SC9 (offering the WOW Bracket, WOW Orchestra, and the WOW Interface) seemed like the perfect match.
As it goes, the WOW Bracket is a perfect mounting solution. I don’t know why all manufacturers don’t implement similar. It’s raises the TV higher than I expected (for clearance of the TV’s infra-red receiver), but that’s not an issue, and together they stand well on a cabinet. I intend to wall-mount the combo, so the bracket will likely prove invaluable.
When it comes to WOW Orchestra, I feel it often doesn’t sound as good as just the soundbar by itself. The AI Sound Pro sound profile is also hit-and-miss, and I often choose the Standard or Bass Boost sound profiles. Speaking of bass… Whilst the highs and mid-tones can be a bit shrill, the bass is quietly unassuming. There have been times when I’ve forgotten about it, only to be surprised by some thunderous sound effects. The speaker module itself is a good size. Just about right to be inconspicuous.
I feel the WOW Interface is a gimmick. It’s not readily accessible and provides little meaningful control. The same goes for the remote control. I much prefer using the TV remote for day-to-day sound profile changes, and then use the app for finessing settings. As for the audio feedback when switching sound profiles, it can be grating and is best left alone.
AI Room Calibration Pro made a minor difference. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced content, and the received audio, haven’t impressed me at all. I end up using the app to lessen the impact of the Triple Up-firing Channels and Tiple Level Spatial Sound. I have just found it all too distracting when trying to consume and appreciate content.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the soundbar. When tinkered with it can be decent, but it really shouldn’t be such a chore. For the suggested retail price, I know there are far better alternatives, as I have one. But, if you can wait to get this on a significant discount and don’t mind tinkering with the settings during consumption, the potential sound that can be achieved is ok. The WOW Bracket is the main saving grace.

Swapped cables for better sound - Optical Audio
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the LG SC9S Soundbar and paired it with my 2020 LG 55" OLED TV, hoping to create an immersive and easy-to-use home theater system in our living room, where we daily watch Numerous shows from a variety of sources. I used an HDMI eARC connection directly from my three-year old LG OLED, downloaded the iPhone app and turned up the volume. LG includes an HDMI cable with the Soundbar. Set-up was fairly easy, especially using the app. I set the TV's audio output for HDMI eARC and started testing the new Soundbar. Using the HDMI cable, the audio results were muddled. While watching favorite streaming shows, the voices were often drowned out or made difficult to hear by background music and noises. Talk shows sounded great as did the news, but shows with music and sound effects create issues. There are eight different "Sound Effects", but none cleared up the audio issues. Two seem redundant "AI Sound Pro automatically optimize sound based on content type" sounds very much like like "Standard - Generally, the best sound is set to be heard". The translations could be clearer. I called LG consumer support to troubleshoot my sound issues and the support person was quite patient and helpful. I swapped out the HDMI, reset the Soundbar and tried different input sources, but no improvement to the muddling. It was suggested I try an Optical Audio cable and that fixed the problem, but seems like a step-back in technology. Thankfully I had an audio optical cable and connected it from the 2020 LG OLED to the Soundbar, changed the TV’s output to match that cable and the “muddled audio” issues disappeared! Not sure yet if I still get all of the benefits and features of the Soundbar (IMAX, Dolby Atmos) using Optical Audio, but I can now simultaneously play audio from the Soundbar AND the TV, for even more sound. I had hoped to place the speaker in front of my 2020 LG OLED, but doing so blocks the RF sensor, so the remote won't work. I therefore put it on a shelf above the TV and it looks nice there, blending into the shelf. I placed the subwoofer behind the set and it is nicely hidden, but the bass is still impressive. In conclusion, the sound is very impressive, I just wish the set-up had been smoother and that the recommended HDMI connection had been successful. At least now I have excellent sound from all sources and am ready for even greater performance when and if I upgrade to a new LG OLED evo.

Can it fit the LG OLED tv 48 inch?

Based on the product specifications, the Synergy Bracket is designed to match and mount with LG OLED evo C Series TVs in 55”, 65”, and 77” sizes only. It is not compatible with the 48‑inch model.
The soundbar itself can still be used with your 48‑inch OLED TV, but the Synergy Bracket will not fit that size.

So I am now reading that the SC9S soundbar has WOWCAST built in. I previously purchased the separate LG WOWCAST WTP3* add-on is this still needed?

The Synergy Bracket included with the SC9S soundbar is compatible only with 55", 65", and 77" LG OLED evo C2/C3 Series TVs. It is not compatible with the 77" G5 Series.
For your G5 OLED, the LG S95AR soundbar is a great alternative. It pairs beautifully with LG OLED B, C, and G Series TVs starting from 55" and up.

Given that SPQ8-S speakers are unavailable in India now, what are my options to have rear speaker setup with SC9S ?
The LG SPQ8-S 2.0 Channel Sound Bar Wireless Rear Speaker Kit is a discontinued product all over the world, and regrettably, it is the only wireless speaker kit that is compatible with the SC9S LG Soundbar C for TV with Dolby Atmos® and Synergy Bracket 3.1.3 channel, and there aren't any other options.
