Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems like a good work in progress Great product has some really nice features but also lacking in some areas. Custom UI in my opinion is nice it gets rid of the ADs at the top of my home page, I prefer and apps approach rather than a content first approach like Google TV UI. Having Satellite was a big sell as I can use all my apps and satellite channels on one device. Glad to see its 32gb which is a nice change for many streaming devices. USB Recording is eh and not quite there yet so hopefully we see some improvement here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good but poor USB Recording (Pvr) function I bought more than one units for our AirBNB accommodation. I had used previously model 7070 but it did not have You Tube, Netflix etc. unit worked well out of the box. It has DVB-S Tuner that means you can receive Freeview from your Dish (normal or sky dish). In addition to this you can get Freeview via streaming if you have broadband wired or wireless (wifi). It has good capable Wifi range. Picture quality is far better than my previous Dish Tv box (model 7070).Android interface is ok. It has two USB ports, the device suggests that you can do live tv (not streaming) recording and schedule recording. It all works’’BUT’ Pvr (video recording) is not perfect because (a) the recorded titles even don’t have date and time stamp I.e. you have same program recorded more than once (more than one episode) you won’t know which one was recorded when. I can’t believe how this simple and essential think is missing (b) when viewing recording you can’t see fast forward or fast reverse (do your guess work). (c) auto chase play recording did not seems to work. The remote is good and functional (it is smart remote , works via Bluetooth I.e. you do not need to point it to the device. Unit size is very compact, one small gentle white LED shows power on status. Overall a good unit except USB (PVR) recording function DID NOT get it right.

How do I record freeview from satellite or terrestrial on this product

Great question Peter! According to DishTV, Recording is available if the unit is tuned to Satellite or Terrestrial for Freeview Channels. There's no 'Instant Record' button on the A7080 Remote. Recordings are made through the Mini-Guide or, the TV Guide and an external USB device is needed. Trust this helps clarify! ^CO
